Overview
The Store Keeper plays a crucial role in the smooth operation of a retail warehouse or storage facility by overseeing the storage and movement of goods. This position is vital for ensuring that inventory levels are maintained and that products are received stored and dispatched in a timely manner. A successful Store Keeper is responsible for preventing stock discrepancies facilitating accurate inventory tracking and ensuring compliance with safety and hygiene regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Receive and inspect all incoming shipments ensuring accuracy and quality of products.
- Organize and maintain the storage area ensuring optimal space utilization.
- Track inventory levels and conduct regular audits to identify discrepancies.
- Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders as necessary.
- Ensure that all stock items are labeled and stored properly.
- Manage stock rotation and prevent stock expiration.
- Coordinate with suppliers and transport companies for order deliveries.
- Assist in the preparation of inventory reports and documentation.
- Implement inventory control systems and practices.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the storage area.
- Follow safety and health regulations in material handling.
- Train and oversee junior staff in inventory management processes.
- Respond to inventory inquiries from internal departments.
- Assist with the development of inventory management policies.
- Utilize inventory management software to record transactions.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate s degree is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Store Keeper or similar role.
- Strong understanding of inventory management best practices.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems and procedures.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Detailoriented with a methodical approach.
- Ability to operate forklifts and other loading equipment (certification desired).
