Job Description
Overview
As a Staff Nurse at our preschool you will play a crucial role in providing highquality healthcare services to young children. You will be responsible for ensuring the wellbeing of preschoolaged children and creating a nurturing and safe health environment. Your role is vital in promoting health education providing medical support and maintaining a healthy and safe preschool environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to preschoolaged children including medication administration wound care and health assessments.
- Collaborate with preschool staff and parents to ensure a healthy and safe environment for children.
- Monitor and record childrens medical and developmental information.
- Conduct health screenings and immunizations as per the preschools guidelines and state regulations.
- Develop and implement health education programs for preschool children and their families.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate care and support.
- Maintain accurate and updated medical records for all preschool children.
- Conduct regular health assessments and screenings to identify any health concerns or developmental delays.
- Communicate effectively with parents staff and healthcare professionals regarding childrens health and wellbeing.
- Participate in preschool safety and emergency preparedness planning and drills.
- Collaborate with the preschool administration to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Provide guidance and support to preschool staff on healthrelated matters.
- Participate in professional development and training opportunities to stay updated on pediatric nursing best practices.
- Maintain a clean and organized medical supply and equipment inventory.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures within the preschool.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent degreeANM or GNM from an accredited nursing program.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) is preferred.
- Proven experience in pediatric nursing or pediatric care setting.
- Sound knowledge of pediatric health assessments developmental stages and common childhood illnesses.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with young children parents and staff.
- Ability to collaborate and work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a preschool setting.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate and detailed medical records and documentation.
- Strong decisionmaking and critical thinking skills in assessing and addressing health concerns in preschoolaged children.
- Knowledge of state regulations and guidelines related to preschool healthcare and safety.
- Ability to remain calm and provide effective care in emergencies involving preschool children.
- They have demonstrated a commitment to continuous learning and professional development in pediatric nursing.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of work.
- Physical ability to lift and carry young children in a medical emergency.
- Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the dynamic healthcare needs of preschoolaged children.
