Database administrator

Key Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain DB2 LUW database instances.
- Monitor database performance and optimize SQL queries for efficiency.
- Perform regular database backups and recovery operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues promptly.
- Ensure data security and integrity through appropriate access controls.
- Collaborate with development teams to design and support database solutions.
- Develop and maintain documentation for database configurations and processes.
- Plan and execute database upgrades and migrations.
- Implement data replication and high availability solutions.
- Conduct capacity planning and performance tuning assessments.
- Automate routine database maintenance tasks using scripts.
- Provide oncall support for databaserelated incidents.
- Review and optimize database storage usage.
- Stay current with DB2 developments and best practices.
- Assist in disaster recovery planning and testing procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field.
- 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator.
- Strong knowledge of DB2 LUW architecture and functionalities.
- Experience with database performance tuning and optimization techniques.
- Proficiency in SQL and database design principles.
- Handson experience with backup restore and recovery strategies.
- Familiarity with database security practices and compliance standards.
- Experience in scripting with languages such as Shell Perl or Python.
- Knowledge of monitoring tools such as DB2 Performance Expert or similar.
- Experience in capacity planning and database scaling strategies.
- Excellent problemsolving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
- Experience with cloudbased DB2 solutions is a plus.
- Certification in DB2 database management systems is preferred.
