Overview
The Ab Initio Developer plays a crucial role in the organization s data management and processing strategies. As an expert in the Ab Initio platform this professional is responsible for designing developing and implementing ETL processes to efficiently handle largescale data sets. This position contributes significantly to the accuracy and performance of data flows ensuring that data is transformed and loaded correctly into data warehouses or analytical systems. The Ab Initio Developer collaborates with data architects business analysts and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and optimize pipelines for companywide data analytics initiatives. This ability to manage and manipulate large volumes of data effectively and efficiently translates to better decisionmaking improved operational efficiency and enhanced competitive advantage in the marketplace. Key Responsibilities
- Design develop and implement ETL processes using the Ab Initio tool.
- Collaborate with team members to gather and understand project requirements.
- Create technical design documentation for ETL processes.
- Maintain existing ETL processes and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
- Optimize data flow performance to enhance overall efficiency.
- Monitor and manage data quality throughout the ETL lifecycle.
- Conduct unit testing and support system integration testing.
- Implement version control and configuration management practices.
- Work closely with database administrators to ensure effective data storage and retrieval.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
- Assist in the training and mentoring of junior developers.
- Develop data models to optimize data structure and processing.
- Ensure compliance with data governance and security standards.
- Evaluate new tools and technologies that may enhance ETL processes.
- Prepare and maintain reports on ETL performance metrics for stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in ETL development using Ab Initio.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and architectures.
- Proficient in SQL for data manipulation and querying.
- Experience with Unix/Linux environments and shell scripting.
- Handson experience with performance tuning and data optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with data modeling tools and techniques.
- Excellent problemsolving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for team collaboration.
- Knowledge of version control systems like Git or SVN.
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
- Detailoriented with a strong focus on data accuracy.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools.
- Experience with cloud data platforms is a plus.
- Relevant certifications in data management or ETL tools are preferred.
