EAG Laboratories is seeking a SIMS Scientist o join our SIMS group. This is a great opportunity to be trained and gain experience using Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry to conduct analytical testing of semiconductors and other materials.
In this role you will analyze and test new and existing materials to identify their properties and characteristics for the development or improvement of products. You will also:
- Work independently to perform the full range of analytical work including complex tasks.
- Ensure instruments are working to their optimum performance and perform maintenance/optimization as necessary.
Work Schedule: Early morning shift Tuesday Saturday
Essential Job Functions:
- Apply standard and nonstandard techniques procedures and criteria to carry out relatively complex SIMS analytical work to determine the composition properties and/or structure of materials.
- Maintains specified records of test data.
- Prepare reports on analytical results for customers including interpretation of results.
- Evaluates customer requests determines testing requirements and prepares instrument for analytical work
- Able to learn SIMS instrument operation and maintenance procedures.
- Assist with maintenance/repair of SIMS instruments when required.
Qualifications :

Education and Experience:
- PhD degree in either in Physics Chemistry Material Science or Engineering with experience in materials characterization and surface analysis techniques and equipment. OR:
- MS degree in either in Physics Chemistry Material Science or Engineering with 3 years experience in materials characterization and surface analysis techniques and equipment
- BS degree in either in Physics Chemistry Material Science or Engineering with 5 years of industry experience in materials characterization and surface analysis techniques and equipment.
- Experience in materials characterization and Secondary Ion Mass Spectroscopy (SIMS) technique. Knowledge of Xray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) Auger spectroscopy RBS AFM XRD and FTIR.
Job Knowledge Skills and Ability:
- Familiar with relevant quality system documents and complies with all system requirements.
- Strong analysis and judgment skills.
- Computer literate high level of accuracy and detail oriented.
- Maintain good organizational skills and perform multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Excellent written communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office or laboratory to access file cabinets machinery equipment etc.
- Ability to continuously operate a personal computer or lab equipment for extended periods of time (4 or more hours).
- Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands arms and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard and other lab equipment use a telephone access file cabinets and other items stored at various levels including overhead.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Ability to speak and hear well enough to communicate clearly and understandably with sufficient volume to ensure an accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance over the telephone and in a group setting.
- Learn new tasks remember processes maintain focus complete tasks independently make timely decisions in the context of a workflow ability to communicate with visitors ability to complete tasks in situations that have a speed or productivity quota.
