About the position
Responsibilities
- Review payment requests for completeness & adherence to policy and follow up on noncompliance issues
- Upon receipt of payable spreadsheets by Accounting Services calculate disbursement totals by currency for cash planning purposes
- Record payment related transactions in the Cashbook (journal entries)
- Maintain and update spreadsheets of payment requests received by Accounting Services including payment transaction references and any relevant comments/notes
- Record bank reconciliation items
- Respond to staff queries regarding payments made and provide bank receipts upon request
- For LOA payments save all receipts in the appropriate shared folder to which GMU has access
- Prepare and share with GMU weekly LOA payment report until fully automated
- Maintain and update the Bank Certificates folder
- Assist the Treasury Analysts as needed
- Assist with Audit requests
- Undertake other related duties as required
Requirements
- Secondary school education
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite packages
- Working knowledge of the English language both written and spoken
- Good interpersonal communications and teamwork skills courtesy and tact and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of different cultural and national backgrounds
- Good skills in personal organization and priority setting
- Good client orientation and service approach
- Good time management skills and attention to details
Desirable Requirements
- University degree in Economics Finance Accounting or related field.
- Previous internships in relevant areas
- Work experience in an international environment
