We are currently looking for a Calibration Engineer Quick Shift & Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) to support one of our prestigious projects in Bologna.

Role Overview:
The selected candidate will join the Engine Management Team within the Product Requirement department. Reporting to the team leader the engineer will focus on calibrating and optimizing the performance of Quick Shift (QS)and Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) systems to ensure optimal shifting comfort speed and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Calibration and Tuning:
    • Calibrate software governing QS (engine ECU) and AMT (transmission TCU) systems.
    • Optimize shifting dynamics to achieve comfort speed and system durability.
  • Testing and Validation:
    • Conduct testing sessions on track road engine test benches and dynamometers.
    • Analyze system performance extract and postprocess test data using MATLAB and AVL Concerto.
    • Support test setup preparation including vehicle configuration.
  • Software Development and Specifications:
    • Contribute to defining and refining software specifications to improve QS and AMT system performance.
  • Collaboration:
    • Interface with ECU/TCU suppliers for software issue resolution and development.
    • Work closely with engine calibrators and application teams to integrate developed packages into calibration.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Export process and represent calibration results graphically.
    • Prepare comprehensive test reports and recommendations.
  • Optimization Tools:
    • Develop and apply automation tools for calibration optimization using MATLAB.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering with excellent academic results.
  • 3 years of experience in calibrating QS and/or AMT systems for gasoline engine applications.
  • Strong knowledge of engine control systems and software tools including:
    • ETAS INCA for engine calibration.
    • MATLAB for tool development and postprocessing.
    • AVL Concerto for data analysis and reporting.
    • Familiarity with Bosch or Vitesco engine control systems is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of automotive electronic components and their interaction with calibration systems.
  • Strong problemsolving decisionmaking and teamwork skills.
  • Motorcycling experience and possession of an Acategory motorcycle license (A3 preferred).
  • Availability for frequent travel.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
