Job Description



The nationally accredited cancer care program at Genesis Cancer Care Institute in Davenport IA is seeking a Board Eligible/Board Certified Medical Physicist with a passion to provide teambased collaborative care and treatment.

Job Description:
  • Fulltime: 40 hours per week.
  • Oncall schedule/ratio: 1:2.
  • No weekend schedule.
  • Desired start date: ASAP
  • Practice setting: Clinic
  • Provide safe therapeutic radiological physics to the Radiation Oncology Department
  • Ensure equipment safety quality patient care and participate in teaching in accordance with regulatory agencies and medical community standards. Genesis offers SRS SBRT IMRT DIBH gaiting SGRT and 3D Conformal.

  • Cancer Institute employs 2 linear accelerators: TomoTherapy HiArt and Varian TrueBeam. Record and verify performed through Aria. Eclipse and Tomoplan software used for planning.
  • Along with participating in treatment procedures the Medical Physicist will participate in patientspecific QA chart QA linear accelerator QA plan checks and any additional support needed by our Radiation Oncologists Dosimetrists and therapists.
  • Team includes 2 Physicists 2 Dosimetrists 8 Radiation Therapists 3 RNs 2 Office Secretaries 1 Billing and Coding Coordinator 1 Social Worker and 1 Office Manager.
  • On average approximately 35 patients are treated daily on 2 machines. The team works closely with our colleagues from our growing Medical Oncology group and interdisciplinary team.
  • Working with the Chief of Physics the successful candidate will have the skills in calibration and commissioning of linear accelerators and other radiation sources perform quality assurance of equipment and treatment plans and implementing new technologies as needed.
  • A good work ethic and ability to work well in a team environment are highly valued.
  • Candidates must be TRULY US Board Eligible (with plans to become Board Certified) or Board Certified by American Board of Radiology (ABR) or American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP). The American Board of Radiology (ABR) and the American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP) are both organizations that certify medical physicists who meet certain educational training and professional requirements. The ABR certifies medical physicists in diagnostic nuclear and therapeutic medical physics while the ABMP certifies medical physicists in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) physics and medical health physics.

  • MS or PhD in Radiology/Radiological Sciences REQUIRED
  • US Board Eligible (with plans to become Board Certified) or Board Certified in Medical Physics by American Board of Radiology (ABR) or American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP) REQUIRED
  • Must be or be willing to become registered in Iowa as a Radiation Therapy Physicist (note in Additional Submission Details field) REQUIRED
  • IA license (or willing to obtain) REQUIRED
  • Clean Malpractice history REQUIRED
  • Does the provider require visa support J1 or H1B (note in Additional Submission Details field) REQUIRED
