Location: Bella Coola British Columbia

Salary: $100000 $140000 base salary plus bonus benefits and employee share ownership

THE ROLE: SUPERINTENDENT Traveling Interior British Columbia

We are confidentially seeking a talented and experienced Traveling Superintendent to join the Commercial Projects Division of our client s Vancouver Office to deliver new build projects in the BC Interior. This division is known for delivering impactful projects including tenant improvements additions renovations and retrofits in the $1M to $25M range.

As a Traveling Superintendent you will lead the charge on projects in the BC Interior from inception to completion ensuring timelines budgets and quality standards are met with precision and care. You ll work on dynamic projects in diverse sectors such as:

  • Commercial Offices & Retail
  • Hospitals Medical or Healthcare Clinics
  • Education & Institutional Facilities
  • Longterm Care & Medical Facilities

10 years of experience successfully leading small to mediumsized interiors projects as the main Superintendent.

Expertise in delivering projects across commercial retail healthcare education or institutional sectors is a huge asset.

Requirements

SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must be willing to travel throughout British Columbia to deliver projects
  • Work with pre construction services and provide support including development of site logistics project schedule and phasing design and constructability review and budget development.
  • Manage site staff allocation quality control subtrade coordination project scheduling field cost control and safety.
  • Coordinate scopes of work with subcontractors
  • Maintain relationships with engineering estimating and planning to ensure work complies with drawings specifications and schedule.
  • Monitor compliance with company and site safety programs and documents and ensures corrective measures are implemented.
  • Take an active role in the hiring training and monitoring field personnel.
  • Work in conjunction with the project manager manage the project schedule specifically as pertains to production.
  • Create a 3 week look ahead for all site staff to understand project progress and staging

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10 years of construction experience and a minimum of 5 years in a supervisor capacity role with a General Contractor.
  • Trade ticket Diploma or Degree in Construction Engineering or Architectural Science
  • Experience building commercial institutional or medical facility interiors projects would be an asset
  • Proven ability to manage project values $1M 30M.
  • Proven ability to lead midsized teams.
  • Knowledge of construction engineering and design.
  • Knowledge of standard construction software and management processes.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The Senior Estimator is responsible for the preparation of estimates for ongoing development projects that occur throughout the year including bid or budget preparation, design/build and hard-bid estimates. Assist in the creation/maintenance of an estimating system for the Division that is complimentary to the existing estimating system. Co-ordinate invitations to subcontractors and suppliers to bid on projects. Work closely with Architects and other professionals. Complete estimate pricing and conduct price analyses. Complete budget and final cost estimates. Solicit and award some major subtrades to coordinate the work and implement the tender packages and subcontract awards in accordance with company standard policies. SPECIFIC ESTIMATING DUTIES: Estimate and cost new high rise buildings. Prepare, enter, and continually maintain accurate quantity take-offs estimates. Finalize take-offs for base plan prototypes including site visit to confirm quantities. Set up database for future use by vendors and suppliers through Purchase Orders. Estimate and cost any optional floor plans or requests accurately and in a timely manner. Produce cost saving techniques, materials, and procedures to increase efficiency and productivity. Update, communicate and verify any direct cost changes, due to cost increases or quantity changes, to Vice President. Develop, learn, and implement software which applies to the job. Keep up to date on building code and municipal requirements. Compile Summary of Estimates for future historical data. Take-off Bill of Quantities for all divisions. Assist management with project planning through development reports and recommendations. Pricing based on both historical data and market pricing. Allocate cost keys for labour, material, equipment and subtrades. Other duties as assigned.
