Position Overview
The Safety Specialist will be responsible for assisting in the implementation of Radiance Solars health and safety program at specific job sites. This individual will perform health and safety reviews at the project(s) to ensure implementation and compliance of company and government/regulated standards. This person will be a resource to the project(s) in preventing occupational injury/illnessrelated losses by establishing appropriate loss control/reduction activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the maintenance and implementation of safety programs compliance plans
and initiatives. - Performs the role of investigative lead in complex investigation of incidents nearmisses and property damage incidents. Provides root cause analysis by examiningevidence gathered from conducting indepth victim casualty and witness interviewsand photographic evidence. Ensure followup is done to minimize future exposure andensures proper records/documents are maintained.
- Conduct coordinate and track various training to support company programs.
- Conduct routine safety observations to ensure compliance with regulatory agenciescompany environmental health and safety policies procedures and practices.
- Conduct regular site visits.
- Conduct written Site Audits and/or Job Behavior Observations at a frequency dictatedby management and/or client. Drive safety incentive program.
- Keep safety credentials current.
- Represent Sunshine Solar during OSHA inspections.
- Assist in training endeavors when requested.
- Coordinates with others for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficientlyand effectively.
- May respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate health/safety/ security concerns.
Qualifications
- Qualified candidate will have 3 years of safety experience preferably within the solar and/or Construction industry.
- OSHA 510 or CHST Certification is required.
- Experience traveling and being away from home for extended periods of time is required. Per diem will be offered while traveling.
- Familiarity with local state and federal codes as they apply to all aspects of solarconstruction and construction equipment and tools.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate environmental health and safetyrelated risks.
- Understanding of OSHA requirements.
- FirstAid/CPR Certification preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a team with attention to detail and organizationalabilities.
- Must be a selfstarter and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Experienced in conducting safety orientations with subcontractors and employees andmaintaining safety logs.
- This position will be working in the field and must be comfortable working outside inthe elements.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk and perform site inspections 70% of the day.
- Lifting up to 35 lbs.
- Perform tasks requiring bending stopping kneeling standing and walking significant distances.
- Visual ability (20/20 corrected or uncorrected) to observe and detect signs of danger.
- Ability to travel up to 90% or more is required.
