Responsibilities:

  • Displays skillful use of the problemsolving process.
  • Displays knowledge of child and adolescent cognitive social/emotional and behavioral functioning.
  • Displays knowledge of students skills knowledge language proficiency interests cultural heritage and special needs.
  • Establishes clear and appropriate goals for school psychological services.
  • Effectively uses District and community resources to meet student needs.
  • Integrates psychological services with the regular school program to meet the needs of students including prevention intervention consultation and assessment.
  • Synthesizes data through observations and relates findings to school functioning.
  • Develops a plan to assess services organized around clear goals and evidence collection to indicate the degree to which the goals have been met.
  • Demonstrates accurate knowledge of special education laws and procedures.
  • Interacts respectfully with students parents other members of the service team and school staff.
  • Promotes a culture for learning and a positive climate in the school and district among students and staff.
  • Possesses strong skills to effectively support the RTI process.
  • Organizes a structure for the functioning of the RTI process and communicates the procedures to all involved parties.
  • Works to maintain the integrity of established RTI procedures.
  • Organizes a safe environment; supports and maintains standards of conduct for student behavior and monitors student behavior against those standards.
  • Responds to students in an appropriate and respectful manner.
  • Communicates information regarding the problemsolving process to staff.
  • Engages other staff in providing input for the problemsolving process.
  • Maintains contact with community service providers.
  • Frequently consults with parents teachers and administrators effectively using databased decisionmaking and problemsolving processes.
  • Adheres to procedures and safeguards that comply with NASP guidelines for best practices.
  • Assumes leadership of the problemsolving team including prevention intervention collaboration consultations and assessment including but not limited to RTI.
  • Recommends evidencebased interventions suitable for the student(s) aligned with student needs.
  • Makes revisions to plans for delivery of services when confronted with evidence of the need for change.
  • Reflections incorporate schoolwide student data and provide an accurate and objective description of practice citing specific positive and negative characteristics.
  • Makes specific suggestions to improve services.
  • Produces records reports and documentation which are well organized and stored in a secure location.
  • Maintains accurate records and establishes a system to avoid errors.
  • Communicates in a way that is easily understood by parents and colleagues.
  • Communicates with families respecting cultural norms and is available to respond to family concerns.
  • Maintains respectful and productive relationships with colleagues.
  • Actively participates in a professional community.
  • Engages in professional development and is able to professionally use feedback provided.
  • Displays professionalism with honesty integrity and confidentiality in interactions with stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Strong background and experience with the RTI and MTSS process.
  • Masters degree from an accredited university.
  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with proper licensure for school psychology.
