About Our Client:
Our client a private outpatient clinic dedicated to supporting parents in ensuring the healthy growth and development of their newborns through childhood is seeking to recruit a dynamic and selfmotivated Paediatrician to join their clinical team.

Job Title: Resident Paediatrician
Reports To: Head of Outpatient Services
Oversees: Clinical Care to our clientele

Job Summary Tasked with the key role of delivering quality clinical care to our inpatient and outpatient clients in a timely and professional manner plus ensuring uniformity in care plus safety enforcement across our facilities and care points.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership
1. Offer leadership and direction to the clinical team while promoting the corporate image at all times.
2. Participate in hospital resource management including planning and allocation of clinical personnel to ensure prudent use of time personnel and material resources.
3. Coordinate with visiting doctors and other clinicians to ensure smooth running of the specialists clinics with adequate resource allocation and prudent utilization of space.
4. Working collaboratively with all other team leaders to promote a multidisciplinary and flexible approach to patient care.
5. Participate in scheduled management and operation meetings.
6. Advise the Managing Director on all matters concerning the clinical team (including visiting clinicians) and participating in performance reviews of the clinical staff.
7. Participate in effective induction programs for new clinical staff.

Clinical Practice
1. Responsible for the delivery of highquality evidencebased practice across both the outpatient and inpatient departments.
2. Perform medical procedures in the clinic and wards as needed.
3. Reviewing patient files verifying complex diagnoses and ensuring treatment plans are appropriate.
4. Providing clinical guidance and onthejob training for the rest of the Clinical team to ensure that they too provide equally excellent services.
5. Timely recognition of potential medical complications and dealing with or referring them as appropriate.
6. Offering outpatient coverage to our various outpatient facilities.
7. Liaising with external consultants coordinating coverage of the specialists clinics.
8. Ensuring the team is well prepared to respond to any emergencies by regular drills and ensuring the nursing team consistently monitors the emergency supplies.
9. Ensure high levels of patient confidentiality and work ethics in line with applicable code of conduct.
10. Collaborate and organize Continuous Medical Education for the clinical staff.
11. Carry out journal reviews regularly and discuss with peers as part our CMEs and professional development.
12. Maintain and regularly update own professional knowledge and competence through education research and selfmotivated learning
13. Providing timely feedback to the team on any gaps identified in the comprehensive treatment cycle
14. Establishing clear and concise referral protocols and directories that are routinely updated
15. Ensure there is proper and effective use of medical equipment and supplies
16. Provide health education and counselling to patients/clients encouraging preventative healthy lifestyles.
17. Ensure effective communication with patients their family other health professionals and the entire team at large.
18. Represent the Hospital as appropriate across the organization and with external partners.

Clinical Governance and Quality Assurance
1. Lead and guide the development and implementation of specific best clinical practice and patient care related policies and procedures.
2. Participate in Root Cause Analysis meetings. Ensure thorough investigation of complaints and incidents during delivery of clinical services and take remedial action to address any identified concerns
3. At regular intervals and in conjunction with the Clinical Staff monitor the effectiveness of clinical care provided to patients and their families in the hospital by undertaking clinical audits to ensure that working policies practices and related services are followed at all times. If necessary ensure that lessons learned are recorded and disseminated and resulting action plans completed.
4. Utilize human and financial resources effectively to ensure quality service delivery profitability and costcontainment.

Human Resources/Performance management
1. Ensure appropriate coverage of all the clinical departments at all times.
2. Routine mentorship and on job training of peers and other health care cadre staff.
3. Delegate work and responsibilities to support the development of team members and create a culture of value and respect for individual contribution.
4. Participate in the Recruitment of clinical team members.
5. Review staff performance ongoing and throughout the appraisal and personal development review process implementing supportive remedial action where required
and undertaking incapability or disciplinary procedures whenever necessary in line with policy.
6. Actively support and supervise staff in their work demonstrating an understanding of the stressful nature of care and whenever necessary assist in providing solutions or articulate their needs to management.
7. Review the structure workforce effectiveness and efficiency of clinical services working with senior colleagues to ensure an integrated patientfocused approach to service provision.
8. Assist with the investigation and local resolution of staff complaints identifying action plans and taking remedial action where appropriate in accordance with Hospital Policy.
9. Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor(s)


Requirements

Education Experience & Skills
Bachelors degree in Medicine & Surgery (MBChB) from a recognized institution.
Masters degree in Paediatrics and Child health
Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council
Consultant recognition
Work experience of a minimum of two (2) years as a Paediatrician in a busy hospital.
Have a valid practice license.
Professional Insurance Indemnity Cover.
Valid EPALS or equivalent certification.
Experience in Paediatic and Neonatal Intensive Care
Proficiency in computer application packages.
Excellent reporting and presentation skills.
Excellent communication skills English and Kiswahili.
Wide knowledge of the healthcare industry.
Good management skills.
Be a proactive team player with strong customer service and problemsolving skills.
Selfmotivation and the ability to work with minimum supervision.

Key Performance Indicators
Number of clinical protocols prepared and implemented
Number of CMEs planned and facilitated
Turnaround time in provision of outpatient services
Demonstrable skill transfer to other clinical team members
Evidence of clinical governance compliance
Attributed revenue
Number of complaints on clinical care

Terms
Working hours as per the rota working at least 5 days a week. Flexible working hours as it involves calls and ward coverage
Annual leave of 21 days per year; plus a day for each public holiday worked.
Threemonth probation prior confirmation
