Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

Be responsible for the set up and operations of the bar
Possess in-depth knowledge of the bar menu, including ingredients, preparation methods, and pairing recommendations, to confidently inform and advise guests
Adhere to departmental standard operating procedures to uphold service levels
Promote and upsell premium drinks, special offers, and food pairings to enhance guest satisfaction and drive revenue
Ensure compliance with food safety and health and safety regulations
Drink Preparation and Service

Mixing Drinks: Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages following standard recipes or custom orders.
Serving Drinks: Serve drinks to customers in a friendly and efficient manner, ensuring quality and presentation.
Creative Drink Making: Create and suggest new cocktails or drink specials based on customer preferences or seasonal trends.
Garnishes and Presentation: Ensure that drinks are garnished properly (e.g., with fruit, herbs, or other decorative elements) and served in the appropriate glassware.
Customer Service

Guest Interaction: Greet customers warmly, take drink orders, and provide recommendations based on customer preferences.
Engage with Customers: Build rapport with customers, offer a friendly and personable experience, and ensure they are satisfied with their drinks and service.
Handle Customer Complaints: Address any issues or complaints with professionalism, ensuring a resolution that maintains customer satisfaction.
Bar Operations and Maintenance

Cleanliness and Organization: Maintain a clean and organized bar area, including cleaning glasses, countertops, and utensils. Ensure the bar is stocked and the workspace is hygienic.
Stocking and Inventory: Monitor the stock of liquor, mixers, garnishes, and other bar supplies. Replenish stock as needed and ensure that inventory levels are maintained.
Monitor Alcohol Levels: Ensure that guests are not over-served, especially when consuming alcohol, by adhering to local laws and regulations regarding responsible drinking.
Cash Handling and Payment Processing

Process Payments: Handle cash, credit cards, or other payment methods. Accurately process transactions, provide receipts, and return correct change to customers.
Balance Cash Register: Keep track of money and receipts, and report discrepancies in cash drawers or tips.


Desired candidate profile

Ideally with a relevant degree or diploma in Hospitality or Tourism management
Minimum 2 years work experience in hotel operations
Good customer service, communications and interpersonal skills are a must
Experience in Food and Beverage Industry: Previous experience working in a bar, restaurant, or hospitality environment is highly desirable.
Customer Service Experience: Strong background in customer service, with a focus on engaging with guests and ensuring their satisfaction.
Knowledge of Drinks and Mixology: Knowledge of various types of alcoholic beverages, cocktail recipes, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks is essential. Experience in mixology, or the art of crafting unique cocktails, is a plus.
Skills and Competencies

Mixology and Drink Knowledge: Ability to prepare and serve a variety of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, while keeping up with popular cocktail trends and regional specialties.
Multitasking: Ability to manage multiple orders, prepare drinks quickly, and keep the bar organized, especially during busy periods.
Attention to Detail: Ensure the quality and consistency of every drink, from the mix to the presentation, while keeping the bar area clean and tidy.
Communication Skills: Clear communication with customers, team members, and management, ensuring that orders are correctly taken and that the customer experience is smooth.
Math and Cash Handling Skills: Comfortable with processing payments, handling cash, and balancing registers at the end of a shift.
Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively, particularly in high-volume environments.
