Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

Effectively inform and educate guests about their specific wellness concerns.
Prepare, clean and help maintain the treatment rooms and other work areas.
Uphold the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by spa’s policies and procedures.
Actively promote the spa, treatments services and retail as well as promotions/offers available.
Provide Therapeutic Massages

Perform Various Techniques: Apply different massage techniques such as Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone, aromatherapy, sports, and prenatal massages to clients based on their needs.
Customization of Treatments: Assess the client's physical condition and customize the massage to address any specific areas of discomfort, injury, or tension.
Utilize Proper Techniques: Use correct body mechanics and proper massage techniques to ensure effectiveness and client safety.
Adjust Pressure Levels: Modify massage pressure to suit individual client preferences or specific health requirements.
Client Assessment and Consultation

Pre-Treatment Consultation: Conduct thorough client consultations before each session to assess any medical conditions, injuries, allergies, or specific concerns.
Understand Client Needs: Discuss the client’s pain points or areas of tension and develop a tailored approach to their massage therapy.
Record Client History: Keep detailed and confidential records of client preferences, medical history, and progress from previous sessions.
Monitor Client Comfort: Continuously check in with the client during the session to ensure comfort and satisfaction with the treatment.
Health and Safety

Follow Health Standards: Maintain knowledge of and adhere to hygiene and health standards, ensuring cleanliness of the massage area, linens, and equipment.
Safety Protocols: Ensure that the techniques used are appropriate for the client’s health status and do not cause injury or discomfort.
Maintain Professional Boundaries: Respect professional ethics and maintain appropriate boundaries during client interactions.
Maintain Massage Environment

Create a Relaxing Atmosphere: Ensure the massage room is clean, calm, and relaxing, using appropriate lighting, temperature, and music to enhance the client’s experience.
Prepare and Clean Equipment: Prepare the necessary tools such as oils, lotions, and towels before and after each session, ensuring cleanliness.
Ensure Comfort and Relaxation: Ensure that clients are comfortable throughout the massage by adjusting the bed or chair as needed and offering blankets for warmth.

    • Excellent Communication Skills: The ability to listen to client concerns, explain treatment plans, and provide feedback clearly and professionally.
    • Strong Knowledge of Anatomy: A solid understanding of human anatomy, muscle groups, and how massage affects the body is essential.
    • Manual Dexterity: Skilled use of hands and fingers to apply the correct amount of pressure during massage treatments.
    • Attention to Detail: Being able to identify specific areas of tension or discomfort and adjusting techniques accordingly.
    • Physical Stamina: The ability to maintain energy and focus throughout the day, as massage therapy can be physically demanding.
    • Customer Service: Strong interpersonal skills, ensuring a positive, relaxing experience for each client.
    • Time Management: Ability to manage appointments and deliver treatments within the allotted time frame while ensuring the highest quality of care.
    • Knowledge of Wellness: An understanding of the importance of wellness practices, including relaxation techniques, stretching, and stress management.
