Job Description

OCU Group are experiencing a significant amount of growth throughout 2024. This has created an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Design Technicianto join our team in Leeds Stourton.

The purpose of the role is to provide design support to our onsite Power Team.

The successful candidate will be able to accept ownership for effectively reviewing utility maps survey packs anddelivera high standard ofsupport to our team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review utility maps of the LV/HV network to check the availability for the customer and to facilitate an increase in load for either a ground source heat pump or EV (Electric Vehicle) charger.
  • Review customers applications to assess the requirements and allocate accordingly.
  • Supply information based on individual assessment of the task and create work packs for the field engineers.
  • Work with high volumes of incoming requests and quotes based on demand.
  • Work closely with the team of surveyors to confirm information from site.
  • Review survey packs completed by the surveyors daily.
  • Delegate admin tasks within the team to assist with design role.
  • Communicate with customers on site specific design decisions.
  • Demonstrate what great customer service looks like providing timely and accurate information whilst offering solutions to problems regarding customers work requirements.

Skills and Experience:

  • Must have knowledge of cable drawings/utility plans.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
  • Effective communication able to adapt your communication style to your audience and work well with our customers over the phone and via email/written communication.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills including the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet business requirement.
  • Ability to meet performance targets and regulatory standards.
  • Using internal software to assess the current network.
  • Good IT skills including use of Microsoft applications specifically Outlook Word & Excel.
