To realize that vision we seek to expand the power and influence of talented midcareer women in health and engage with senior institutional and societal leaders to catalyze systemic change for gender equality in health leadership. We work in East Africa India Nigeria North America Southern Africa and continue to explore outreach to other regions.
Our Work Established in 2019 we work to advance equality in health leadership through a range of actions at the individual institutional and societal levels. This includes Leadership Journeys which focus on equipping midcareer women with tools along with peer mentor and coach support to successfully use their voice expertise and leadership for impact. It includes pushing conversations and partnerships with senior leaders in health institutions taking steps to prioritize gender equality. It also includes supporting/ convening global conversations about the importance of womens leadership amplifying the voices of national and global health leaders including at the biannual WomenLift Health Conference.

WomenLift is seeking a Senior Manager East Africa Alumnae to work under the direction of the Alumnae Program Lead CrossRegional and as a member of their East Africa team to contribute to the design and implementation of both a regional and global Alumnae Community strategy. Their focus will be on serving the contextualized needs of women leaders based in East Africa and connecting these women into a powerful global community with close ties to women leaders around the world.
The candidate will require strong leadership skills and the ability to manage projects and people effectively. They must bring a high level of emotional and crosscultural intelligence and will be adept at building deep relationships across a variety of lived experiences and backgrounds. They should understand the value of cocreation with team members and be able to work independently. They must have strong written and oral communication skills. The candidate should be proficient at synthesizing and organizing information. They should possess strong endtoend event (inperson and virtual) design implementation and communication skills. They bring public/global health understanding and interest and embrace a growth mindset. They value human connection and are strongly aligned with WomenLift Health Mission Vision Culture and Values.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The WomenLifts global Alumnae Community is growing rapidly. In 2024 it includes 229 women and 60 of those are based in East Africa growing to 420 in 2025 and over 1000 by 2027. The Senior Manager East Africa Alumnae will work under the direction of the Alumnae Program Lead CrossRegional and closely with the East Africa Director and alumnae managers in other regions to design and implement an annual set of virtual and inperson offerings. They will also liaise closely with East Africa alumnae to reimagine the future for this community nationally/regionally and globally. The responsibilities include:
