Job Description

Role: Instructional Designer/Workshop Facilitator

Location: Remote/Washington D.C. (as required)

Duration: 12 Months Contract

Position Overview:

The client seeks an Instructional Designer/Workshop Facilitator to support the Research and Needs Assessment for the USIP.org website. This role involves designing and facilitating workshops or meetings with USIP stakeholders to establish a vision for the websites future and define strategic goals. The Instructional Designer/Workshop Facilitator will ensure that workshops are engaging outcomesoriented and align with project objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Workshop Design and Planning

Collaborate with USIPs project steering committee to identify objectives key stakeholders and desired outcomes for workshops.

Develop detailed workshop plans agendas and instructional materials tailored to the projects goals.

Design interactive activities tools and frameworks to foster stakeholder engagement and productive discussions.

2. Workshop Facilitation

Lead visionsetting workshops or meetings with USIP staff stakeholders and project teams.

Facilitate collaborative discussions to identify topline goals measurable objectives and key performance indicators for the website.

Adapt facilitation style and activities in real time to meet the needs of participants and ensure workshop objectives are met.

3. Instructional Material Development

Create supporting materials including slide decks worksheets and summary documents to guide workshop discussions.

Design instructional resources that effectively communicate project findings strategies and goals.

4. PostWorkshop Reporting and FollowUp

Document and synthesize key insights decisions and action items from workshops.

Develop a final brief summarizing workshop outcomes and their implications for the websites future development.

Provide recommendations for next steps based on workshop findings.

5. Stakeholder Collaboration

Work closely with research UX and technical teams to integrate workshop outcomes into broader project deliverables.

Ensure alignment between stakeholder input and the strategic vision for the website.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelors degree in Instructional Design Organizational Development Communications or a related field (Masters preferred).

Required Experience:

3 years of experience in instructional design workshop facilitation or organizational development.

Proven track record of designing and leading visionsetting or strategy workshops for diverse teams.

Experience in nonprofit government or missiondriven organizations is a plus.

Skills:

Expertise in instructional design principles and workshop facilitation techniques.

Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage and manage diverse stakeholders.

Proficiency in using tools like PowerPoint Miro or other collaborative platforms to design and execute workshops.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build consensus and drive results.

Key Deliverables:

Workshop agendas instructional materials and facilitation guides.

Visionsetting workshops or meetings successfully executed with documented outcomes.

Final brief summarizing workshop results strategic goals and next steps.

Contributions to the final strategy brief and project deliverables.
