Job Description
- Monitor patients vital signs such as heart rate blood pressure and breathing rate during exams
- Prepare equipment and supplies for examinations such as xrays electrocardiograms (EKGs) and pulmonary function tests (PFTs)
- Administer medications for various conditions including asthma attacks chronic bronchitis emphysema pneumonia tuberculosis and asthma
- Teach patients about their condition how to manage it and how to cope with the stress of living with a chronic disease
- Conduct diagnostic tests such as chest Xrays or sputum cultures to identify the cause of illness
- Educate patients about their condition and treatments they are receiving
- Record patients medical histories and physical exam findings in their files to track their progress over time
- Observe patients during examinations to ensure that they are safe and comfortable
- Administer breathing tests such as spirometry to measure lung function
Qualifications/Skills:
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing preferred
- Must possess a current valid RN license in state of practice
- Certification in CPR
- 2 years of experience in a healthcare related field preferred
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of professionalism during stressful times
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Dedicated to provide the best patient care possible
- Must have general working knowledge of computers and department specific software
