Job Description
Job Title: Patent Litigation Associate
Location: Burr Ridge Illinois
Position Overview:
Seeking a fulltime Patent Litigation Associate for its Burr Ridge Illinois office. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience in patent litigation or those with a strong academic background in a technical field. The firm offers extensive handson experience and opportunities for domestic travel as well as the chance to work on cuttingedge patent litigation matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle all aspects of patent litigation from case initiation through trial and appeal.
- Conduct due diligence and patent portfolio assessments.
- Perform technical analysis and create claim charts.
- Manage discovery including document review depositions and expert preparation.
- Draft pleadings motions discovery requests and other legal documents.
- Participate in trial preparation and assist in trial strategy and execution.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys on case strategy and legal arguments.
- Engage in client communication and maintain client relationships.
- Travel as needed for depositions court appearances and caserelated activities.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 13 years of experience in patent litigation or recent law school graduates with prior patent experience (e.g. internships clerkships or relevant coursework).
- Technical Background: A strong technical background in Electrical Engineering Computer Science Computer Engineering or a related field is preferred.
- Skills:
- Excellent technical analytical and problemsolving abilities.
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for legal arguments.
- Detailoriented and capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Educational Requirements: A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABAaccredited law school.
- Bar Admission: Must be admitted to practice in at least one state (preferably Illinois).
