Job Description

Job Title: Patent Litigation Associate
Location: Burr Ridge Illinois

Position Overview:
Seeking a fulltime Patent Litigation Associate for its Burr Ridge Illinois office. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience in patent litigation or those with a strong academic background in a technical field. The firm offers extensive handson experience and opportunities for domestic travel as well as the chance to work on cuttingedge patent litigation matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle all aspects of patent litigation from case initiation through trial and appeal.
  • Conduct due diligence and patent portfolio assessments.
  • Perform technical analysis and create claim charts.
  • Manage discovery including document review depositions and expert preparation.
  • Draft pleadings motions discovery requests and other legal documents.
  • Participate in trial preparation and assist in trial strategy and execution.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on case strategy and legal arguments.
  • Engage in client communication and maintain client relationships.
  • Travel as needed for depositions court appearances and caserelated activities.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 13 years of experience in patent litigation or recent law school graduates with prior patent experience (e.g. internships clerkships or relevant coursework).
  • Technical Background: A strong technical background in Electrical Engineering Computer Science Computer Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent technical analytical and problemsolving abilities.
    • Strong communication and writing skills.
    • Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for legal arguments.
    • Detailoriented and capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Educational Requirements: A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABAaccredited law school.
  • Bar Admission: Must be admitted to practice in at least one state (preferably Illinois).
