Engineering Technician II Product Engineering Support (CA)
Major Purpose:
Performs instrumented tests using existing procedures to verify that system performance meets product specifications. Supports assigned product groups in product validation and verification process as associated with production requirements. Provides problem identification and resolution corrective action and tracking and reliability analysis. Provides input on test procedures to engineers and support personnel as required.
Major Duties:
- Designs schedules and performs field and/or lab tests to validate new product designs.
- Analyzes test data of moderate complexity draws conclusions and summarizes reports.
- Develops programs for data acquisition.
- Collects and installs instrumentation for test.
- Compiles test reports that document procedures and communicates results and guidance to design group.
- Assists in procedure and process documentation for various aspects of testing requirements.
- Assists in developing changes to product design for new programs or continuous improvement projects.
- Gives work direction to test operators.
Skills Abilities Knowledge:
- Familiarity with one or more of the following systems: mechanical hydraulic electrical.
- Skill in using company information systems and processes.
- Knowledge in engineering principles theory and practice as well as product knowledge.
- Knowledge of industry Product Verification & Validation processes and execution methodologies.
- Fundamental understanding of machine forms relevant to the specific job assignment and Company division/unit. Knowledge/familiarity with machines manufactured by competitors.
- Knowledge of the Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP) Enterprise Technology Development process (ETDP) and/or Enterprise Customer Acquisition Process (ECAP).
Education:
- Degree in an Engineering/Technology discipline or equivalent experience.
- Technical degree or apprenticeship (12 years or equivalent).
- Degree in a Science discipline or equivalent experience.
- Degree in an Agricultural Sciences discipline or equivalent experience.
Work Experience:
- Engineering experience. (1 3 years)
- Product design experience. (1 3 years)
- Product test and analysis experience. (1 3 years)
- Product design test and/or analysis experience. (1 3 years)
- Experience with engineering tools systems and databases. (1 3 years)
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. (Medium Projects)
Position Title: Technician II
Specific Position Requirements:
- Visa sponsorship is not available now or in the near future for this position.
- Drug screen is required for this role.
- Metatarsal boots required for day one.
- Onsite position.
Job Purpose:
- Maintaining electrical/mechanical testing rigs testing design validation and verification of electronics or electromechanical equipment and products. Assemble and disassemble electric motors test rigs and lab equipment.
Job Duties:
- Work with Engineering to understand and apply defined test methods and requirements.
- Maintain lab equipment in good working order.
- Troubleshoot defective lab equipment provide first attempt at repairing broken equipment and lead routine maintenance of equipment as needed.
- Build test harnesses load boxes and test fixtures to support product verification as required with minimal supervision.
- Document and maintain records relating to work performed.
- Inform supervisor of process test or design problems and provide recommendations for corrective action.
- Design and assemble electrical/mechanical fixtures and test setups as required.
- Perform inspection test and failure analysis as necessary to determine cause of defective tests and assemblies with minimal supervision.
- Create test documentation when required for prototype products if engineering instructions are not available.
- Communicate in a professional and effective manner.
- Perform other associated tasks as required.
