The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:
Protestant Music Director
1. Services and Rehearsals Requirements
1.1Regular Worship and Regular Worship Rehearsals: Accompany (play piano organ guitar or keyboard) and direct musical selections during designated regular worship services including accompany singing of hymns choruses and spiritual songs; choral response anthems and special music that enhances the atmosphere of worship for the particular congregation. Accompany regular choir rehearsals if required: play the piano organ guitar keyboard and/or direct accompaniment for choir/worship team rehearsals. Music director shall be required to play at any Chapel (Chapel 1 or Chapel 2) on Edwards AFB when directed by the COR and shall conduct all rehearsals at the base chapel unless authorized by the COR. Contract Position is anticipated to be for up to five years beginning in January 2025.
2. Special Services and Rehearsal Requirements

3. Communication
Communicate with the chaplains priests song/worship leaders and other music director conducting the service to ensure a coordinated service of worship for the congregation. Plan and coordinate all musical selections with the Priest of the congregation or appropriate designated representative to select music in keeping with the theme of worship service.
4. Responsibilities
4.1 Coordinate and provide appropriate musical support during the designated worship services to include all musical accompaniments during the worship services to include congregational music offertory prelude and postlude music etc.
4.2 Coordinate and or provide music for all services and adjust tempo and style of choir selections to enhance the congregations ability to participate in worship as directed by the Chaplain/ Pastor.
4.3 Provide music selections music volunteers no later than six (6) days prior to the worship service and provide to the Priest by the time designated for publication in worship service bulletins and coordination with other musical staff.
4.4 Music director shall be present at least 30 minutes prior to each service and 15 minutes before each rehearsal. Music Director shall not leave during the service unless the COR has approved of it.
4.5 Music director shall monitor all government provided instruments used by the music director and report requirements or repair or replacement to the COR or his designated representative.
4.6 Shall ensure all copyright reproduction and license agreements/laws are abided with at all times.
4.7 Shall monitor/track/properly maintain all funds spent by the youth Program to account for what is spent and ensure fund requests are completed in accordance with HC AFIs/OIs. Work closely with Chapel Tithes and Offerings (CTOF) account manager to ensure timely submission of funds requests to meet program plan and distribution/reimbursement of funds to program leaders.
4.8 Music director shall present a professional and neat appearance at all times and conduct shall not reflect discredit upon this installation or the Department of the Air Force.
4.9 Shall maintain ethical standards equivalent to the Uniform Military Code of Justice and shall work in accordance with the chaplain requirements.
4.10 Shall maintain a good rapport with the congregation and be discreet in character and someone who will maintain absolute privacy and confidentiality for any issues either seen or heard.
5. Experience and Qualifications
5.1Music Directors shall have at least two (2) years of worship services experience and a minimum of two (2) written references in which the work performed as in the music area.
5.2 The music director shall be knowledgeable of and be able to apply liturgical and contemporary music norms of the Catholic/Protestant tradition in preparation for worship and/or Special Services for the specific Chapel tradition for this contract.
5.3 Music director and substitutes shall be able to read and play music according to the religious services being rendered.
5.4 The music director shall be knowledgeable of and conversant with developments in Protestant music both liturgical and contemporary for the specific Chapel tradition of the congregation served by this contract.
6. Hours of Operation.
6.1 Work hours and rehearsals vary. Rehearsals are required approximately once weekly and last approximately 60 to 90 minutes. Worship services last approximately 60 to 120 minutes. There are 52 services and 52 rehearsals and up to 14 special rehearsals or services (TBD) which will be performed during each oneyear performance period. This contract is for up to five years beginning in December 2025.

This is a parttime position with compensation based on budget and the successful candidates experience and qualifications.
Full Time
