Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and certified Equestrian Instructor to join our dynamic team at Good Shepherd International School. The ideal candidate will have a passion for equestrian sports excellent communication skills and a strong ability to work with students of varying skill levels. This role involves not only teaching equestrian skills but also overseeing horse and stable management while contributing to the boarding house community and the school s sports programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Equestrian Instruction
- Conduct engaging safe and progressive riding lessons for students of all ages and abilities.
- Teach equestrian skills including dressage show jumping and basic horsemanship with a focus on personal development and safety.
- Prepare students for competitions events and certifications as appropriate.
Horse and Stable Management
- Oversee daily care feeding grooming and exercise routines for horses.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in the stables and surrounding areas.
- Ensure proper upkeep of tack and equipment reporting or addressing any repairs or replacements needed.
- Monitor horse health and coordinate veterinary and farrier visits when required.
Sports and Extracurricular Involvement
- Collaborate with the sports department to integrate equestrian activities into the broader sports curriculum.
- Organize and manage equestrian competitions exhibitions and events hosted by the school.
- Promote teamwork discipline and sportsmanship through all equestrian and sportsrelated activities.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Certified Equestrian Instructor (e.g. BHS USHJA or equivalent).
- Proven experience teaching equestrian skills particularly to schoolaged students.
- Strong knowledge of horse care health and stable management.
- Excellent communication interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Enthusiasm for working with children and young adults in a residential setting.
- Ability to manage time effectively and work collaboratively within a team.
- First Aid and Safeguarding certifications (preferred or willingness to obtain).

QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE: ESSENTIAL: DESIRABLE: Qualification: A graduate level degree with major in Visual Arts (Painting / Sculpture / Print making) Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of full-time teaching experience in mainstream school setting, ideally with experience in an international educational setting Grades the position would be handling: VI-X Attended IB MYP Visual Arts Workshops Ability to teach visual arts in the International Baccalaureate (IB) MYP Programme/Cambridge/ICSE Post graduate from a recognized university COMPETENCIES Functional Competencies: Ability to teach digital media (photography, videography etc.) Innovative teaching techniques IT skills Pedagogical skills Critical thinking skills Assessment and Coaching skills Organization, Planning and time management skills Behavioural Competencies: Excellent written and oral communication skills Interpersonal skills Leadership, collaboration and team management skills Caring and Inclusiveness
