Electrical Design Engineer

The Lead Electrical Engineer (Switchgear Design) will lead design teams focused on unique design projects and challenges in the renewable energy industry. The Lead Electrical Engineer will help design schematics for electrical panels and select suitable components for systems such as .battery energy storage systems power conversion systems or power distribution systems. . The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of developing such systems and launching them into production.
He/she should be an electrical design engineer with experience in mass production.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead electrical designs of power systems from concept to production
- Develop product requirements from customer input.
- Apply applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Select key electrical components with an emphasis on cost reduction.
- Design electrical panel schematics and manufacturing outputs.
- Perform design analysis including DFMEA derating analysis arcfault calculations heat loss calculations etc.
- Develop test plans against customer requirements.
- Debug prototype units using standard lab equipment.
- Execute verification test plan using standard lab equipment.
- Write manufacturing test specifications.
- Represent Jabil Design Engineering in technical customer discussions.
- Maintain industry leading knowledge of the latest power conversion trends.
- Perform design reviews.
- Provide guidance to junior engineers.
- Recommend projects to develop Jabil capabilities potentially resulting in patents technical publications or white papers
EDUCATION AND WORK HISTORY REQUIREMENTS
- A Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is required.
- At least 8 years of relative experience in electrical hardware design is required.
- Experience managing entire design cycles from concept to production.
- Or an equivalent combination of education experience and/or training.
REQUIRED TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE
- Electrical panel design using AutoCAD Electrical Creo Schematics Eplan or similar.
- Expert level knowledge of the NEC (NFPA 70) UL508A or IEC equivalents.
- Design and testing of high power systems to commercial product compliance standards.
- Hands on debug and testing of power systems using standard lab equipment.
- Field commissioning of such systems.
- Successful transfer to manufacturing and commercial product launches.
