Job Description Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Rehabilitation Services Supervisor and Director the Occupational Therapist evaluates and implements treatment plans based on the physicians referral and patient needs. This position requires collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team and delivery of services in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Primary Job Duties: - Deliver occupational therapy services in inpatient and outpatient settings including weekends and holidays as scheduled.
- Evaluate patients and develop specific treatment plans and goals tailored to their needs age and learning abilities.
- Serve as a case manager for assigned patients.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records.
- Reevaluate and adjust treatment plans as needed obtaining physician approval when necessary.
- Provide patient and family/caregiver education on therapy procedures home programs and assistive equipment use.
- Communicate effectively with the rehabilitation team family physicians and thirdparty payers about patient progress and program changes.
- Participate in program development departmental meetings and interdepartmental committees.
- Supervise occupational therapy assistants and oversee student interns or volunteers as needed.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment in treatment areas and report safety concerns.
- Stay updated on laws regulations and best practices in occupational therapy.
- Participate in professional development through educational programs workshops and inservice meetings.
Required Skills and Experience Experience:
Minimum 2 years of hospital (acute) experience required. One year of acute hospital or outpatient hand clinic experience preferred (new graduates may be considered).
Skills:
- Proficient in occupational therapy evaluation and treatment.
- Knowledge of care for Pediatric Adolescent Adult and Geriatric patients.
- Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration in a team setting.
- Physical Effort: Ability to lift push and pull patients and equipment as required in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Education and Certifications - Minimum Bachelors Degree in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent).
Licensure:
- Current California Occupational Therapy License (required).
- NBCOT Certification (required).
- Advanced certifications (CHT PAM Advanced Practitioner in Hands) preferred.
- Applicants with pending licensure may be considered.
