Job Description
Location: Bakersfield CA
Start Date:12/16/2024
Employment Type: L&D RN Traveler
Shift: Night shifts
Pay: $3815.00 per week
Expected Hours: 36 hours per week
*NO FIRST TIME TRAVELERS*
**CERNER IS REQUIRED!**
Unit: L & D Location: (BMH) Bakersfield Memorial Hospital
# beds: 12 L & D and 6 triage beds (overflow area where can potentially have laboring patientsdo not deliver in this areamoved to actual L&D bed)
Ratios: Per ACOG Guidelines (2:1)
MUST BE COMFORTABLE TAKING 2 PATIENTS!!
Certs: BLS & ACLS (MUST BE THROUGH AHA) NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) & AWHONNAdvanced Licensure: Current CA RN License Doc System: CERNER REQUIRED
Types of patients: High risk patients some multiple births (up to triplets usually) run insulin gtts run mag drips; for Csection will circulate and recover; no other surgeries on unit unless tubal or emergent hyster needed; no elective abortions; will recover babies (skin to skin) after delivery; have techs that help as well; make sure the nurses are true L&D as their Postpartum nurses are separateneed Csection experience; must be strong L&D! Have a lot of protocols in place to help with carestry to give a couple days on the unit as orientation; please note the charting is NOT by exception onlythey must chart everything!! Have level 3 almost level 4 NICU that attends high risk deliveries. Must be used to a fast busy unit! Deliver over 300 per month! Floating: Closed UnitNo floating.

- Assist in the delivery process including Csections and complicated births.
- Provide postpartum care and newborn assessments.
- Educate patients and families on newborn care and postpartum recovery.
- Ensure accurate documentation of patient care and interventions.
- Active RN license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of 3 years of labor and delivery experience preferred.
- ACLS Advanced Fetal Monitoring BLS NRP
- Strong communication and criticalthinking skills.
