Job Description
Job Title: Nursing Assistant
Location: Decatur Georgia 30033
Employment Status: FullTime
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nursing Assistant with hospital and Emergency Department (ED) experience. The ideal candidate will provide direct patient care diagnostic support and assistance with treatment procedures while maintaining a safe and supportive healthcare environment.
- Assist patients with personal care including feeding walking lifting and turning.
- Provide hygiene care using specialized equipment for patients requiring oxygen or suction therapy.
- Support patients in selfcare activities such as eating dressing and using prosthetic devices.
- Assist with pre and postoperative care following nurse or physician instructions.
- Record and report vital signs and any changes in patient conditions to the nurse.
- Assist in diagnostic procedures including lumbar punctures liver biopsies and emergency interventions.
- Collect label and transport specimens to the laboratory.
- Prepare and assemble equipment for medical procedures and ensure proper patient positioning.
- Clean and maintain medical equipment used in oxygen and suction therapy.
- Report malfunctioning equipment and conduct inventories or contraband checks as needed.
- Change simple dressings and care for patients with infections or communicable diseases.
- Provide oxygen therapy chest therapy postural drainage and catheter care.
- Administer basic life support measures when necessary.
- Document vital signs and patient conditions in charts.
- Assist with patient admission histories.
- Provide verbal updates to nurses for inclusion in care plans.
- Evaluate and maintain a safe mental health care environment.
- Accompany mental health patients to external appointments.
- Provide care for COVID19positive patients and those under investigation (PUI).
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Certification: Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification from any U.S. state.
- CPR/BLS: Valid CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Experience: At least two (2) years of relevant clinical experience with recent (within the past six months) exposure.
- Alternatives: Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Intermediate Care Technician (ICT) certifications/licenses may be considered in place of CNA certification.
- Strong teamwork and effective communication abilities.
- Proficiency in basic nursing care and diagnostic support tasks.
- Competent in patient care documentation and care planning.
- Ability to provide physical and emotional support to patients.
- Resilience and efficiency in fastpaced and highpressure environments.
- Successful completion of any required government background checks.
