Job Description

Summary:
We are seeking a Specialist for Leave of Absence (LOA) administration to manage and coordinate all aspects of the LOA process ensuring compliance with company policies and federal/state regulations. The role involves handling FMLA ADA Workers Compensation and disability programs while providing responsive support to employees management and vendors. Strong analytical organizational and communication skills are essential for success in this position.

Position Info:

  • Title: Leave Coordinator
  • Client: American Water
  • Duration: 12 Months
  • Location: 1 Water St. Camden NJ 08102
  • Work Mode: Hybrid 3 days in office/2 days remote

Responsibilities:

  • Administer and track LOA programs including FMLA ADA Workers Compensation Military Leave STD and LTD.
  • Educate employees and managers on leave policies and procedures ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Provide guidance on paycoding update LOA status in HR systems and audit payroll data for accuracy.
  • Prepare and distribute compliant leaverelated correspondence including notifications approval letters and packets.
  • Collaborate with payroll HR and vendors to reconcile insurance claims overpayments and billing.
  • Participate in calls with Legal and HR on complex LOA and ADA accommodation cases.
  • Monitor compliance with evolving legislation recommend policy updates and assist with mergers or acquisitions impacting LOA processes.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associates degree preferred.

  • Required Skills:Thorough knowledge of federal and state leave laws including FMLA and ADA.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel Access Word) and HRIS systems.

  • Strong analytical and decisionmaking abilities.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters discreetly.

  • Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of LOA experience or 2 years in HR roles (Assistant Specialist Generalist or Benefits).

  • Proven experience resolving complex leave issues and conflict management.

  • Familiarity with union environments and Collective Bargaining Agreements is a plus.
