Job Description

Job Summary

The General Ophthalmologist at Laser Center is a pivotal role responsible for providing comprehensive eye care services to patients under the guidance of the Medical & Scientific Director and the Associate Scientific & Acting Medical Director. This position entails diagnosing and treating various eye conditions and diseases and ensuring the delivery of high quality patientcentered care. The General Ophthalmologist collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams maintains accurate medical records stays updated on advancements in ophthalmic research and technology and upholds the clinic's standards of ethical conduct and professionalism. The ideal candidate demonstrates clinical expertise excellent communication skills and a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth. Physician Duties:

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and assessments to evaluate patients' visual acuity refractive errors and overall ocular health.

• Diagnose and manage a diverse range of eye conditions and diseases including cataracts glaucoma diabetic retinopathy macular degeneration and refractive disorders utilising evidencebased practices and the latest advancements in ophthalmic care.

• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique needs and preferences incorporating medical management surgical interventions and/or corrective measures such as eyeglasses or contact lenses.

• Provide preoperative counseling and postoperative care to surgical patients monitoring their progress addressing any concerns or complications and facilitating their recovery process.

• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including optometrists primary care physicians and subspecialists to coordinate patient care and optimise treatment outcomes.

• Stay abreast of the latest developments in ophthalmic research technology and surgical techniques participating in continuing education activities and professional development opportunities.

• Maintain accurate and uptodate medical records for all patients documenting examinations diagnoses treatments and followup care in accordance with established guidelines and regulatory requirements.

• Communicate effectively with patients and their families providing clear explanations of diagnoses treatment options and expectations and addressing any questions or concerns with empathy and compassion.

• Uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct patient confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of clinical practice and interpersonal interactions.

• Uphold Laser Center's core values of uncompromising continuous improvement caring sensitive safety and teamwork among others in all aspects of clinical practice and interactions with patients colleagues and staff ensuring alignment with the clinic's mission and commitment to delivering exceptional eye care services.

PROFESSIONAL & TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required:

• Medical degree (MD or equivalent) from a recognised medical school.

• Residency training in ophthalmology from an accredited program.

• Board certification or eligibility in ophthalmology.

• Valid medical license to practice in Oman.

• Demonstrated proficiency in diagnosing and managing a wide range of ophthalmic conditions and performing surgical procedures.

• Strong clinical skills including excellent diagnostic acumen and decisionmaking ability.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish rapport with patients families and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.

• Commitment to providing compassionate patientcentered care and ensuring a positive patient experience.

• Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment and work effectively under the guidance and supervision of senior medical leadership.

• Dedication to continuous learning professional growth and adherence to best practices in ophthalmology.

Clinical Expertise:

Demonstrated proficiency in diagnosing and managing a diverse range of ophthalmic conditions and diseases utilizing evidencebased practices and the latest advancements in medical and surgical treatments.

Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex medical information clearly and compassionately to patients and their families fostering trust and understanding. Collaboration Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including optometrists primary care physicians and subspecialists to coordinate patient care and optimize treatment outcomes.
