- Use daily logs to track and verify medication administration
- Capacity to drive client in the front seat
- Can support client with time management
- Support with daily living tasks such as help with bathroom dressing cooking household chores etc.
- BM/urination recording and weight and temperature recordings
- Provide support with transitions in a kind way (warnings ahead of time timers are helpful)
- Track food availability in the home and grocery shop as directed
- Ensure laundry is done on a timely basis and bedding is changed each week and as directed
- Ensure the client has clean clothes throughout the day and clean towels for bathing
- Help maintain a clean and sanitary house for the client including in the bathrooms
- Communicate with the House Leader and/or caregiver of any problems on a timely basis for resolution
- Ongoing collaboration with a caregiver is a must. Instructions on the clients day to day life may be subject to change with weather activity calendar etc.
- Supervise client at all times as they are at risk of choking on food and falling
- Taking the client to the gym bowling alley for his weekly team bowl to golf course for his weekly classes
- Accompanying client and supervising for safety while at bowling golf and other community activities
- Assisting with the community activities as needed
- Sometimes taking the client out to eat in restaurants (for lunch)
- Possible transportation (dropping off picking up) to and from Day Program (as requested and depending on shift worked)
Requirements
- Experience with administering medication
- Must be able to pass background check through DOJ
- Must have authorization to work in the US
- Reliable transportation (not Uber or Lyft)
- Proof of Valid CA Driver s License and current Auto Insurance
- Reliable cell phone communication
- Punctual and on time to shifts
- Must be able to travel upwards of 2050 miles per week (shift specific; mileage reimbursement applies)
- Excellent time management skills
- Experience supporting individuals with daily living needs especially toileting.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds and be active with the client as he enjoys golf swimming etc.
- CPR certification is required
- TB Clearance (recent) or Chest XRay required
- Ability to support the client with selfregulation and transitions when they require assistance
- Current FirstAid and CPR certification
- At least one year of experience providing direct support (as described in job duties above).
- Experience with developmental disabilities strongly preferred.
