Job Description

Are you a data scientist eager to build something from the ground up Do you also want to help promote a healthy planet for future generations We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our Gothenburg office where you will build and lead a team dedicated to developing and implementing machine learning models that will transform the future of the maritime industry.

Since 2010 we have been at the forefront of maritime emissions reduction partnering with shipowners yards and naval architects to drive the transition to sustainable shipping. Today Manta Marine offers a portfolio of green technologies such as fuel optimization systems and turnkey shore power solutions. Manta Marine is headquartered in Oslo Norway with offices in Sweden Poland and China.

What you will do
As a Senior Data Scientist you will establish the foundations of this new team at Manta Marine. This involves establishing structures and driving the development process from the ground up. You will design frameworks build scalable AI/ML architectures and create datadriven solutions to transform maritime operations. Collaborating with crossfunctional teams you will implement advanced analytics solutions to optimize vessel performance enhance decisionmaking and improve overall efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable AI/ML architectures including data pipelines algorithms and models ensuring optimal performance.
        • Design develop and deploy machine learning models to optimize fuel consumption vessel performance and route optimization.
        • Leverage sensor and weather data to optimize vessel performance and route selection.
        • Ensure data accuracy and governance and help implement datadriven practices across the organization.

        Who you are
        We see that you have:

        • A Masters or Ph.D. degree in Data Science or a closely related field.
        • 5 years of experience in data science and development of ML models. Meritorious with candidates with experience in the maritime industry and maritimespecific data sources (e.g. AIS sensor data).
        • Proficiency in Python R Java or other relevant programming languages.
        • Expertise in machine learning frameworks and a strong understanding of data analysis tools.
        • Understanding of maritime regulations and sustainability initiatives (e.g. IMOs environmental regulations) is meritorious.
        • Experience using cloud platforms like AWS for handling largescale data and deploying models is meritorious.
