POSITION STATEMENT:

The Regional Director of Fleet (RDFM) leads the strategic and operational management of the Fleet Department. They ensure the efficient repair maintenance and operation of vehicles and equipment across Rockville Forestville and Richmond. Reporting to the VP of Fleet and Compliance the RDFM implements standardized practices manages preventative maintenance programs oversees procurement and maintains accurate data systems to support seamless regional operations.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Oversee the operations of the fleet within the assigned region ensuring optimal vehicle utilization and efficiency.

Ensure timely maintenance and inspection of vehicles to uphold safety standards and compliance with local state and federal regulations.

Manage fleet inventory including acquisition decommissioning and allocation of vehicles based on business needs.

Monitor fleet utilization fuel efficiency and other key metrics to optimize performance.

Keep track of over 300 vehicles

Purchasing vehicles to expand and/or enhance the fleet.

Scheduling regular maintenance on all vehicles

Ordering urgent or emergency repairs as needed

Managing vehicle licensures and registrations.

Ensuring all fleet members have proper licensures and uptodate training.

Establish and oversee preventive maintenance programs to extend the lifecycle of fleet vehicles.

Evaluate fleet performance metrics and make recommendations for upgrades or replacements as needed.

Providing reports to management on budgeting schedules maintenance and fleet progress.

Developing methods to decrease costs and improve efficiency.

Oversee staff of fleet mechanics

Contribute to hiring and training new mechanics.

Collaborate with executive leadership to align fleet operations with overall company objectives.

Ensure compliance with transportation laws and regulations including DOT OSHA and other applicable standards.

Ensure efficient utilization of the LBC system.

Track and monitor the preventative maintenance schedule for all fleet vehicles.

Ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks.

Optimize LBC system use to enhance communication and visibility within the department.

Prioritize compliance with preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime reduce costs associated with breakdowns and improve department efficiency.

Track maintenance costs per vehicle to optimize fleet expenses.

Identify opportunities for cost savings.

Implement expense optimization strategies without compromising service or quality.



Requirements

Requirements:

Great written and verbal communication skills

Excellent leadership skills including goal setting motivation and training objectives.

Expert knowledge of best driving delivery vehicle maintenance and other industry practices

Basic math and keen data analysis skills

Familiarity with transportation scheduling and management software

Understanding of basic vehicle mechanics including the ability to identify when major repairs as needed.

Ability to set and monitor a budget.

Good problemsolving critical thinking and decisionmaking skills

Exceptional organization time management and multitasking abilities

Stays current on transportation laws and regulations.

Keen attention to detail

Possess a degree in Logistics Business Administration Automotive Technology or another relevant field. Must have 810 years of experience in the transportation industry. Professional certifications from organizations like the National Association of Fleet Administrators (NAFA) or the North American Transportation Management Institute (NATMI) is preferred.
