Job Description

VHIR offers a position for a Predoctoral researcher within the Cardiovascular Diseases group a multidisciplinary translational research group within the Cardiology Department of Vall dHebron Hospital that conducts laboratory clinical and epidemiological research. The selected candidate will participate in the project Role of amino acid metabolism reprogramming and calpain deregulation in fibroblasts activation and diffuse myocardial fibrosis in heart failure. The project centers on in vivo mouse models and patient samples and it is complemented by mechanistic in vitro studies.


Education and qualifications:

Required:
  • Bachelors Degree in Science
  • Masters in Biomedicine Biotechnology Genetics or any related Biomedical Science.
  • Proficiency in English


Desired:
  • Accreditation to useanimals in research
  • Fluency in Catalan and/or Spanish

Experience and knowledge:
Required:
  • At least 6 months of experience with molecular biology methods and R programming language
  • Critical thinking: The abilityto analyse and evaluate information critically make connections between concepts and develop innovative solutions to research problems.
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a research team and contribute effectively to group projects


Desired:
  • Experience in cell culture and animal handling
  • Experience in data processing
  • Experience working in immunohistochemistry and biochemistry.

Main responsibilities and duties:
  • Develop the doctoral thesis project and collaborate in other projects of the research group related to thethesis project.
  • Design perform and interpret in vitro and in vivo experiments.
  • Present and defend the results obtained in national and international scientific meetings.
  • Participation in the groupsteaching activities


Labour conditions:

  • Fulltime position: 40h/week.
  • Starting date: January 2025.
  • Gross annual salary: 18.18041 (Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale)
  • Contract: Predoctoral
