Job Description
We are seeking a Data Testing Specialist to play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of data transformations and processes within the dbt framework. The candidate will collaborate with crossfunctional teams focusing on implementing ShiftLeft Testing strategies and optimizing testing practices to enhance project delivery.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- ShiftLeft Testing Implementation:
- Lead the implementation of ShiftLeft testing in the dbt ecosystem.
- Engage early in the requirements gathering process to contribute to Data Mapping and Data Modelling documents.
- Collaboration and Test Coverage:
- Collaborate with Business Analysts Data Modellers Developers and End Users to derive comprehensive test coverage and scenarios.
- Understand technical goals and enduser needs to design appropriate test suites.
- Automated Test Development:
- Build and optimize automated test suites in the dbt framework including both inbuilt assertions and custom test cases.
- Continuously review automated test suites for gaps redundancies and traceability to requirements.
- Manual and Exploratory Testing:
- Execute integration negative failover and exception handling test cases not covered by automated tests.
- Perform exploratory testing as needed.
- Quality Assurance:
- Validate the efficiency of automated test designs and outputs ensuring highquality code development.
- Provide feedback to developers on slowrunning queries or inefficient transformations for optimization.
- UAT and Deployment Support:
- Coordinate and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Business Acceptance Testing (BAT) phases.
- Contribute to the rollout of dbt and UAT implementation across multiple projects.
- PostDeployment Monitoring:
- Suggest monitoring metrics or threshold alerts based on user feedback to ensure data quality in production.
- Documentation and Test Planning:
- Analyze and review Data Mapping HLD and LLDs to identify gaps.
- Develop and document test plans and approaches for efficient release delivery.
Requirements:
- Location: Must be based in Portugal preferably Lisbon.
- Language Skills: Proficiency in English (B2/C1).
- Strong expertise in testing within the dbt framework including automation and manual testing practices.
- Experience in data mapping data modeling and SQLbased validation.
- Ability to work collaboratively with crossfunctional teams.
Work Mode: Hybrid (Lisbonbased projects)
