Job Title:South Bristol Community Cricket Coach
Reports to:Schools & Coaching Manager
Responsible for: N/A
Contract:19 month fixed termcontract until July 2026 with view to extension (subject to funding)
Hours:37 hours per week including evening & weekend work (opportunity for the role to be term time only or part time)
Salary:per annum
Location:South Bristol (exact location TBC)
Closing date: Friday 20th December
Main Responsibilities:
School delivery
- Deliver high quality and inspiring cricket sessions to primary secondary and SEN school children throughout the year.
- Develop lasting relationships with schools and teachers to embed a culture of cricket in schools in South Bristol.
- Deliver formal and informal teacher training to leave a legacy of cricket in South Bristol.
- Deliver and support primary and secondary competitions and festivals (in school and at local cricket clubs) and help the migration of pupils from schools to clubs.
Supporting local cricket clubs
- Drive the development and growth of cricket clubs in South Bristol.
- Play an active role in supporting the existing womens and girls sections at clubs and inspiring other clubs to develop theirs.
- Support clubs with their All Stars Dynamos and other junior activities.
Supporting local communities
- Lead and deliver the Super 1 Bristol Bobcats.
- Deliver the Lords Taverners SEND cricket programme in mainstream and specialist schools in South Bristol
- Engage with local organisations to build and develop relationships around SEN cricket delivery
- Engage and with local organisations to build trust and relationships to develop other cricket based programmes to support and meet local need that may help address local inequalities. this could include Street Cricket Walking Cricket Seated Cricket Sporting Memories.
Additional responsibilities
- Support coach development.
- Deliver on the SCF school holiday coaching programme.
- Partner with local organisations to develop and deliver holiday activities.
- Support other SCF coaching programmes.
- Continually develop to ensure that delivery is of the highest possible standard.
Knowledge skills and experience required:
Essential
- Minimum of a Level 2 Cricket Coaching qualification.
- Experience of working in a school and/or club environment.
- Experience of working as part of a team and independently.
- Experience of coaching different ages and genders.
- Excellent people skills with the ability to build genuine relationships.
- Excellent IT skills including advanced ability with Word Excel Outlook and other Microsoft programmes.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills.
- Excellent communication skills in a variety of formats (eg. Face to face phone and email).
- Clean ECB DBS vetting check or commitment to undertake prior to commencement of the role.
- Ability to travel independently between sites (full and valid UK driving license and access to a car).
Desirable
- Experience of working with volunteers and community groups.
- Experience of delivering competitions and festivals.
- Knowledge of the Chance to Shine charity and their programmes.
