Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detailoriented Tax and Regulatory Compliance Specialist to handle various tax and regulatory issues for our clients. In this clientfacing role you will liaise directly with the IRS state DOR SOS and other agencies to manage tax notices entity formations elections and dissolutions. This is a critical role that ensures our clients remain compliant with tax laws while resolving any discrepancies and streamlining business processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with the IRS state Department of Revenue (DOR) and Secretary of State (SOS) to address client notices and inquiries.
  • Manage entity formations file elections (including late elections) and change entity types as needed.
  • Handle entity dissolutions and ensure proper filings are made with state and federal agencies.
  • Resolve tax discrepancies and disputes with government agencies in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Keep up to date with federal and state tax regulations and provide guidance to clients on compliance requirements.
  • Provide clear and professional communication with clients addressing their concerns and offering tailored solutions.
  • Work directly with clients to gather necessary documentation provide updates and manage the compliance process from start to finish.
  • Assist with general tax planning and compliance needs of clients ensuring they adhere to local state and federal tax regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in accounting Finance or a related field (CPA or EA certification preferred/CPA candidates will be given added weight).
  • 2 years of experience in tax and regulatory compliance particularly with IRS and state agency correspondence.
  • Strong understanding of federal state and local tax regulations.
  • Experience with entity formation filing entity elections and changing entity types.
  • Ability to interpret and resolve tax discrepancies and notices.
  • Excellent client communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive client information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in tax software and strong documentation management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a clientfacing tax or compliance role.
  • Familiarity with various state regulatory environments.
  • Experience working with highnetworth individuals or small to mediumsized businesses.
