We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Kitchen Intern to join our culinary team in Nairobi Kenya. This exciting opportunity offers handson experience in a professional kitchen environment where you will learn and grow under the guidance of experienced chefs.
- Assist in the preparation of meals according to standard recipes ensuring portion control and minimizing waste
- Apply necessary precautions related to the hotels food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP)
- Clean and maintain all equipment in the food production area
- Attend all briefings meetings and training sessions as assigned by management
- Support the kitchen team in various tasks including food prep plating and kitchen organization
- Learn and practice proper food handling storage and sanitation procedures
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations during service
- Assist in inventory management and stock rotation
- Participate in menu development and recipe testing under chef supervision
- Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment
Qualifications :
- Basic culinary training or education in a related field
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
- Basic knife skills and willingness to learn various kitchen techniques
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team
- Good physical health and stamina to work in a fastpaced kitchen environment
- Strong communication skills in English
- Eagerness to learn and positive attitude
- Detailoriented with a focus on quality and consistency
- Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays
- Basic math skills for recipe conversions and inventory management
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to standard operating procedures
- Interest in local and international cuisines
