Oracle DBA with Expert SQL Skills

Requirements

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Oracle DBA with expertlevel SQL knowledge to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Oracle database administration with a particular focus on performance tuning and SQL optimization. In this role you will be responsible for managing maintaining and optimizing Oracle databases ensuring they perform efficiently and effectively. Your deep understanding of SQL including advanced performance tuning techniques will be essential to the success of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oracle Database Administration:
  

  • Perform installation configuration and ongoing maintenance of Oracle databases in production test and development environments.
    
  • Manage and maintain database objects such as tables indexes partitions views and sequences.
    
  • Implement backup and recovery strategies using Oracle RMAN and other appropriate tools.
    
  • Manage and monitor database health and performance ensuring availability reliability and security of the database systems.
    
  • Ensure database security by managing user roles permissions and privileges.
    

• SQL Performance Tuning:
  

  • Expert in SQL Optimization: Review and optimize complex SQL queries identifying performance bottlenecks and ensuring efficient execution.
    
  • Use SQL Trace Explain Plans and other diagnostic tools to analyze SQL performance and recommend/implement tuning changes.
    
  • Work with development teams to optimize query performance and improve applicationlevel database interactions.
    
  • Perform index optimization partitioning strategies and other tuning techniques to improve query performance and reduce resource usage.
    

• Database Design and Optimization:
  

  • Design and maintain efficient table structures including partitioning strategies to enhance performance and scalability.
    
  • Create and manage indexes including understanding when to use and when to avoid them to improve query performance.
    
  • Implement index tuning for optimal query execution.
    
  • Use best practices in data modeling to ensure normalized structures while optimizing query performance.
    

• Database Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
  

  • Regularly monitor database performance using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) or custom monitoring tools identifying issues related to system load query performance and resource usage.
    
  • Troubleshoot complex database issues related to locking performance and resource contention.
    
  • Maintain SQL and Oracle performance logs to identify trends and preemptively address potential issues.
    

• Upgrades and Patching:
  

  • Plan and execute database patching and upgrades to keep Oracle environments uptodate and secure.
    
  • Ensure that Oracle databases are always running the latest version to leverage new features bug fixes and security enhancements.
    

• Collaboration with Development and Operations Teams:
  

  • Collaborate with application developers to write and optimize SQL queries that perform well at scale.
    
  • Work with the operations team to ensure seamless database operations and integrations with other IT systems.
    

• Automation and Scripting:
  

  • Develop and maintain scripts for database automation such as backups restores migrations and monitoring.
    
  • Use scripting languages (e.g. Bash Python or SQL) to automate routine DBA tasks and improve efficiency.
    

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience:
  

  • A minimum of 69 years of experience as an Oracle DBA with significant experience in SQL performance tuning.
    

• Expert SQL Knowledge:
  

  • Expertlevel knowledge of SQL including the ability to write complex queries optimize queries and understand execution plans.
    
  • Indepth experience with SQL Trace and Explain Plans to analyze and optimize the performance of SQL queries.
    

• Oracle Database Performance Tuning:
  

  • Strong experience in performance tuning for Oracle databases including SQL query optimization indexing partitioning and resource management.
    
  • Knowledge of query optimization techniques including the use of Explain Plans Optimizer Hints and Indexing Strategies.
    

• Database Design and Maintenance:
  

  • Proven experience in designing and maintaining tables indexes and partitions to optimize database performance and scalability.
    

• Advanced Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:
  

  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex database performance and availability issues using diagnostic tools and techniques (e.g. SQL Trace AWR reports V$ views).
    

• Backup and Recovery:
  

  • Strong knowledge of Oracle backup and recovery strategies including RMAN.
    

• Security Management:
  

  • Experience with Oracle database security features such as user management rolebased access control and encryption.
    

• Collaboration Skills:
  

  • Strong communication skills to work with development teams system administrators and other stakeholders to implement database solutions.
    

• Automation and Scripting:
  

  • Experience with scripting for automating routine database tasks (e.g. backups monitoring migrations).
    

Preferred Qualifications:

• Oracle Certifications:
  
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or higher certification preferred.
    
• Additional Oracle Experience:
  
  • Experience with Oracle RAC Data Guard or GoldenGate for high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
    
• Cloud Experience:
  
  • Familiarity with cloudbased Oracle services (e.g. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or Oracle Autonomous Database).
    
• Other Database Technologies:
  
  • Experience with other databases (e.g. MySQL PostgreSQL or SQL Server) is a plus
