Responsibilities
- Collecting pertinent documents including property plans technical drawings and project specifications
- Studying documentation meeting with clients and inspecting construction sites to understand project requirements
- Deciding on appropriate human and material resources for each project
- Obtaining multiple quotes and selecting the most suitable offers
- Negotiating with service providers for better pricing
- Outlining work plans to determine project timelines
- Performing risk assessments for potential deviations from the project plan
- Calculating an overarching price considering resource costs and profit margins
- Drafting proposals detailing expected materials costs and timeframes
- Meeting with clients to discuss concerns and feedback regarding offers
Qualifications
- 5 years of relevant experience in construction estimating
- Strong background in project management preferred
- Proven experience in estimating commercial projects
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience with change order pricing and negotiation
Education Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management Civil Engineering or a related field preferred
Education Requirements Credential Category
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field
Experience Requirements
- 5 years of experience as a construction estimator on significant commercial projects
- Proven ability to estimate costs reliably and effectively
- Experience attending prebid meetings with owners vendors and subcontractors
