You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Senior Steward plays a crucial role in overseeing the cleanliness organization and overall efficiency of the restaurants backofhouse operations. This position involves managing the dishwashing team ensuring that kitchen equipment utensils and dining ware are properly cleaned sanitized and maintained. The Senior Steward is also responsible for supporting the kitchen and service staff by ensuring all items are ready for use during meal preparation and service.
The Senior Steward will take the lead in maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in all areas of the restaurants kitchen and dining area ensuring the smooth flow of operations.
Key Responsibilities:Team Leadership: Supervise train and lead a team of stewards/dishwashers ensuring that all cleaning and dishwashing duties are completed efficiently. Provide guidance and support in the proper use of cleaning equipment and procedures.
Cleaning & Sanitization: Oversee the cleanliness of all kitchen utensils dishware glassware silverware cooking equipment and the backofhouse area. Ensure all items are properly cleaned and sanitized according to health and safety regulations.
Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all kitchen equipment such as dishwashers sinks and cleaning machines are functioning properly. Report any malfunctioning equipment to the restaurant manager or maintenance team and ensure repairs are carried out promptly.
Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining stock levels of cleaning supplies dishware and kitchen tools. Notify management when supplies are running low or need replenishing.
Waste Management: Ensure the proper disposal of waste including food ss and general trash. Follow proper disposal procedures for recycling and waste management to maintain cleanliness and meet environmental standards.
Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to all local state and federal health and safety guidelines. Ensure all staff members follow proper food safety hygiene and sanitation practices.
Collaboration: Work closely with kitchen and frontofhouse staff to ensure that service runs smoothly and that kitchen operations are efficient. Communicate any issues or supply needs with management in a timely manner.
Support in Kitchen Operations: Assist the kitchen team with tasks such as restocking kitchen supplies organizing storage areas and preparing kitchen spaces for service.
Customer Interaction (if required): Ensure the restaurants service team has access to clean and organized dining ware during service hours. Occasionally help set up dining rooms or banquet areas when necessary.
Training and Development: Train new stewards and dishwashers on proper cleaning techniques kitchen safety and restaurant procedures. Help staff develop their skills to maintain high standards of cleanliness and efficiency.
