Job Description

On behalf of our client Waves Group MARPRO is looking for a Naval Architect with a good understanding of the marine and offshore fields. This is a staff position based in Waves Groups Rotterdam Office.

The candidate can expect to be involved in a wide range of projects involving fixed / floating structures subsea equipment subsea power cables offshore renewable energy and project cargoes. Typical projects include Transport & Installation (T&I) engineering for offshore construction projects Marine Warranty Surveys (MWS) for a wide range of offshore construction projects development of cargo securing designs analysis of mooring systems verification of new equipment / system designs and investigations into marine and offshore casualties / incidents.
This position requires a creative and diligent engineer who is eager to advance their career in the sector. The work will primarily be officebased but will also involve assignments in the field including attendance onboard vessels and offshore installations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering varied consultancy projects with a particular focus on engineering design and analysis;
  • Provide engineering assistance as required for marine warranty projects. There will also be the opportunity for onsite attendances (onshore and offshore);
  • Taking ownership of projects and delivering customer satisfaction (schedule compliance and engineering completion) on projects while helping to deliver the planned growth for Mwaves;
  • Provide engineering support to legal investigations;
  • Naval Architecture analysis for a diverse range of projects including; assesment of vessel motions global & local strength stability and mooring design.
  • Assist in the development of the R&D work leading development projects as appropriate;
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction (scheduled compliance and engineering completion) on projects;
  • Responsible for ensuring technical quality in the appropriate field(s) and being the custodian of methodologies associated software and processes. Provide oversight and guidance to junior engineers as required;
  • Client development to introduce and deliver new business to the Company.

Professional Competencies

  • Relevant engineering degree and Chartered status with a relevant Institution;
  • Proven experience and ability in some or all of the following areas:
    • T&I engineering and analysis;
    • Heavylift engineering such as rigging and padeye design;
    • Seafastening design;
    • Vessel motion analysis;
    • Project management;
    • Operational procedure writing.
  • Proficient in the use of FEA (DNV SESAM) software;
  • Proficient in the use of Hydrodynamic analysis (OrcaFlex) software;
  • Knowledge and application of the relevant rules codes and guidelines for the above areas.

  • Highly organised Ability to work in a highpressure deadlinedriven environment whilst maintaining focus on quality and attention to detail. Manage and prioritise own workload and that of others on a project;
  • Commercial acumen Ability to identify and understand customers needs to formulate effective solutions and to balance their needs with commercial interests of the Waves Group;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills producing reports of the highest standards;
  • Ability to apply a creative approach to problemsolving for our clients and in the presentation of technical work to nontechnical people;
  • Forward thinking Willing to challenge traditional standards where benefits can be achieved;
  • Team player who is keen to contribute to the further development of the company.
