Roles and responsibilities
1. Team Leadership and Supervision
- Supervise a team of electrical and instrumentation technicians, ensuring they are performing their tasks according to safety standards and project timelines.
- Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure team members have the tools, resources, and training they need to complete their work.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and technical expertise to the team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to improve team skills and efficiency.
2. Installation and Maintenance of Electrical and Instrumentation Systems
- Oversee the installation, calibration, and commissioning of electrical systems and instruments (e.g., sensors, controllers, transmitters, actuators).
- Ensure that all installations meet regulatory codes, safety standards, and company specifications.
- Supervise the preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and instrumentation systems to minimize downtime.
- Plan and schedule maintenance activities, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
3. System Calibration and Testing
- Ensure that all electrical and instrumentation systems are calibrated correctly to ensure accurate readings and optimal performance.
- Perform routine checks and testing on electrical and instrumentation systems to confirm they are functioning as expected.
- Oversee the troubleshooting of malfunctioning instruments and electrical systems, identifying faults and ensuring proper repairs or replacements are made.
4. Safety Compliance
- Ensure that all electrical and instrumentation work is conducted in compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Lead safety meetings and conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards in electrical and instrumentation tasks.
- Promote a safety culture by ensuring that technicians wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe work practices.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of local, state, and federal safety standards and ensure compliance in daily operations.
5. Project Planning and Coordination
- Plan and schedule projects related to electrical instrumentation systems, including new installations, upgrades, and system improvements.
- Coordinate with other departments (e.g., engineering, maintenance, operations) to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to specifications.
- Ensure that all required materials and equipment are available for projects, and maintain inventory levels of spare parts for instrumentation and electrical systems.
6. Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of maintenance activities, system performance, and repairs.
- Prepare reports on system performance, repairs, calibration, and inventory to present to management.
- Ensure that all documentation, such as system manuals, maintenance logs, calibration reports, and inspection checklists, is properly filed and accessible.

Technical Expertise
- Extensive knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems, including control systems, sensors, motors, circuit breakers, PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), and related technologies.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical and instrumentation schematics, blueprints, and manuals.
- Expertise in calibration, testing, and troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation systems.

- Ability to lead and motivate a team of technicians, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
