Roles and responsibilities
1. Receiving and Inspecting Shipments
- Receive incoming goods and verify shipments by checking product quantities and condition.
- Inspect products for damages and discrepancies, and report any issues to supervisors or quality control.
- Unload products from trucks or containers using manual labor or warehouse equipment like forklifts or pallet jacks.
- Update inventory records to reflect new stock arrivals, ensuring accurate data is maintained in the warehouse management system (WMS).
2. Inventory Management
- Organize and categorize products in the warehouse according to predetermined systems (e.g., shelving, bin locations).
- Monitor stock levels and notify supervisors when products are low or require restocking.
- Ensure products are stored in appropriate locations, taking into consideration factors such as size, weight, and product type.
- Assist with inventory counts during regular stock audits and assist in identifying slow-moving items.
3. Order Picking and Packing
- Pick products from the warehouse shelves based on customer orders, ensuring the correct quantity and product is selected.
- Pack items carefully for shipping, ensuring products are well-protected and properly labeled.
- Ensure packaging meets company standards and includes necessary documentation (e.g., invoices, receipts).
- Perform quality checks to ensure that items are in good condition before shipping.
4. Shipping and Distribution
- Prepare items for shipment by labeling packages with correct addresses, shipping methods, and tracking numbers.
- Coordinate with shipping carriers or internal delivery teams to ensure timely dispatch of orders.
- Load products onto trucks or delivery vehicles, using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or hand trucks.
- Ensure all shipping documentation is complete, accurate, and ready for transportation.
5. Maintaining Warehouse Organization
- Ensure that the warehouse is clean and organized, with clear aisles and properly stored products.
- Organize items efficiently to maximize storage space and facilitate easy access for picking and packing.
- Maintain proper labeling of products and inventory bins for ease of identification.
Desired candidate profile
Physical Stamina and Strength
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, sometimes up to 50 lbs or more, depending on the nature of the products.
- Comfort with standing, walking, bending, and moving throughout the warehouse for long periods.
Attention to Detail
- Ability to accurately pick, pack, and check products, ensuring the right items are selected and shipped.
- Ability to spot errors in orders, inventory discrepancies, or damaged goods.
Organization Skills
- Strong organizational skills to manage and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to organize the warehouse to ensure efficient product retrieval and storage.
Technical Skills
- Basic computer skills, including experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory tracking tools.
- Ability to operate warehouse machinery, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and conveyors, safely.
