Job Summary:
Responsible for supervision of assigned nursing and unitbased personnel
Ensure a safe caring environment for patients family and staff that fosters professional nursing practice shared decisionmaking interprofessional teamwork and collaboration
Oversee daytoday operations and productivity and assist the Nursing Manager in planning developing implementing evaluating and monitoring policies and procedures budgets and the allocation of resources
Involved in quality/performance improvement initiatives educational programs and shared governance councils to achieve departmental and organizational goals and objectives
Provide nursing care as needed
Coordinate patient care through collaboration with interprofessional team members in planning implementing and evaluating patients plans of care
Identify potential problems and/or resources for patients and families
Ensure staff members maintain competency based on standards of practice for patient population
Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and facilitate practice changes among nursing staff
Create and sustain a compassionate supportive safe and therapeutic environment for patients families and staff
Advocate on behalf of the nursing staff to represent the concerns of patients families and staff
Monitor the learning needs of staff and patients/families and assist in the design implementation and evaluation of educational activities
Collaborate with medical allied health and administrative staff to ensure the provision of safe quality compassionate care
Recognize respond and provide followup to issues concerns and suggestions on behalf of patient population and staff
Improve nursing practice and the work environment through promotion and facilitation of shared governance and decisionmaking processes
Plan develop implement evaluate and revise the departments recognition program to ensure meaningful recognition of the contributions of others
Demonstrate commitment to community service
Requirements:
Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) or higher
TX RN Registered Nurse
BLS Basic Life Support
NRP Neonatal Resuscitation Program (required within 30 days of hire)
Knowledge and understanding of nursing and patient care standards and procedures
Ability to communicate thoughts clearly; both verbally and in writing
General computer skills including but not limited to: Microsoft Office information security scheduling and payroll systems electronic medical documentation and email.
