JOB DESCRIPTION
The Design System Engineer leads the interface between the Chief Engineering team and the Product Release Center primarily responsible for managing system interactions and interfaces between components and subsystems of the Driveline System. Design Systems Engineer reports to the Chief Engineer for multiple programs.
Development Validation Center
Schedule hardware system design reviews with cross functional teams and reviews design proposals as required
Organize reviews with Virtual Analysis/CAE team and ensures Virtual DVP/Scorecard is completed prior to any prototype hardware orders
Manage Driveline System and Interface DFMEA / DRBFM (team) reviews to ensure complete transparency and development of cohesive Design Controls leading to Robust DVP Actions
Support Chief & Assistant Chief to develop Cost Rollups for Minor/MCA/ New Programs
Review and approve all change notices ensuring checklists LL and EBPs are updated and aligned.
Lead Technical Cost Reductions (TCRs) / Value Optimization (VO) effort and alignment working closely with PRC DVC and VO teams.
Represent Chief Engineer in managing the lessons learned document for the program and ensure that TS (Technical Specialist) receive those updates on a timely manner to update the EBPs accordingly.
Reviews Driveline system and applicable component Validation Completion status with DVC team periodically & provides update to CE.
Coordinates DRBTR review and keeper of follow up items and decision maker on issuing GIMS for buds of problems.
Manage CQI and GIMS cross functional task force teams working closely with ACE create priorities action plans and track progress align and update initiatives list
Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred).
Minimum 7 years of experience in Driveline or Powertrain components with OEM and/or tier 1/2 supplier.
Demonstrated working knowledge of Powertrain / Engine / Transmission operation and components.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent problemsolving skills.
Must be able to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
Some travel required to Supplier and Vehicle Assembly Plants including Canada & Mexico.
Thorough knowledge: Productivity software from Google and Microsoft.
Comprehensive knowledge: Productivity software from Google and Microsoft.
The candidate should be comfortable in the corporate office environment and be aware of the level of professionalism that is expected.
Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R)
High level of proficiency in English (speaking reading writing)
Master of Science in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical)
Green/black belt in Shainin or DFSS desirable
CAE/CFD experiences on Powertrain structures
Handson involvement in the repair/modification of a vehicle or other technically complex project.
