Roles and responsibilities
1. Team Supervision and Leadership
- Lead and manage a team of facility management staff, technicians, contractors, and construction workers.
- Assign tasks, set priorities, and ensure work is completed according to schedule and budget.
- Monitor staff performance, provide coaching, and conduct evaluations.
- Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and compliance with regulations.
2. Facility Maintenance
- Oversee and manage routine and preventive maintenance for building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.).
- Ensure that all equipment and machinery are operating properly and efficiently.
- Coordinate repairs and replacements of infrastructure, including structural components and systems.
- Schedule and supervise cleaning, waste management, and other essential facility services.
3. Construction and Renovation Projects
- Supervise construction projects, ensuring they meet timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with contractors, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
- Oversee construction activities, ensuring compliance with building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Inspect construction sites and review project progress, addressing any delays or issues promptly.
4. Budgeting and Cost Control
- Assist in developing budgets for both maintenance and construction projects.
- Monitor expenditures and ensure cost control for repairs, maintenance, and renovations.
- Identify areas for cost-saving without compromising the quality or safety of the work.
5. Safety and Compliance
- Ensure all work practices follow safety protocols and OSHA or local regulatory standards.
- Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Keep up-to-date with laws and regulations governing facility management and construction, ensuring full compliance.
- Lead and coordinate emergency response activities, including fire drills, evacuations, or first aid.
