Job Description
As a Senior Compound Engineer you will play a critical role in developing innovative tire compounds that meet optimal performance standards and customer expectations. You will work closely with crossfunctional teams to ensure seamless integration of materials science into tire development and production processes contributing to The clients reputation for excellence and sustainability in the tire industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize tire compounds to meet customer approval standards and performance requirements.
- Enhance the performance of existing tire compounds to align with customer expectations.
- Design and execute laboratory studies to evaluate and implement new compound technologies.
- Explore and evaluate cuttingedge materials technologies for tire applications.
- Conduct forensic analysis on new and tested products to troubleshoot and improve performance.
- Collaborate with development engineers on OEM and replacement projects to select compounds and set performance benchmarks.
- Travel to production plants to support new compound development and process studies as needed.
- Maintain communication with other R&D centers globally to share insights and align strategies.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Strong capability to work collaboratively with crossfunctional and international teams.
- Expertise in plant operations related to compound mixing extrusion calendaring tire building and curing processes.
- Handson experience working with plant compound specialists production teams and process engineers.
- Indepth knowledge of polymers fillers reinforcements and their application in tire manufacturing.
- Awareness and understanding of sustainability practices in the tire industry.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards related to materials and tire manufacturing (preferred).
- Proficiency in the statistical design of experiments is a plus.
- Lean manufacturing and qualityfocused mindset with an emphasis on ontime delivery.
- Selfmotivated dynamic and committed to achieving success through innovation and collaboration.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally; a valid passport is required.
Education & Experience
- Bachelors Masters or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering Chemistry or related fields.
- Knowledge of tire design and standards is required.
- Experience in OE (Original Equipment) product development and familiarity with OE plant operations.
- Broad expertise in compounding science with 515 years of experience in OEM compound development.
Additional Information
- This role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
- Travel (domestic and international) is required.
- Must hold a current and valid passport.
