Overview:
The Development Associate will be based in Illinois or remote for the right candidate. Responsible for all aspects of developing our portfolio of projects across the Illinois market. They will manage crossdisciplined coordination with Permitting Environmental Real Estate Design Finance Accounting Marketing etc. and 3rd party consultants in the planning development and execution of projects. Additionally they will play a major role in maintaining key relationships in target markets including with existing landowner partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Portfolio Management
- Manage the full development process from Land Origination to Construction for the Illinois Portfolio
- Report on Portfolio Metrics including key milestones budgets and risks
- Oversee interconnection strategy and processes drive results and problemsolve issues
Research and Intelligence
- Review and apply Municipal County and State regulations bylaws and ordinances
- Chart project schedules & budgets
- Create and launch regulatory stakeholder engagement
- Research & model tax proposals for municipalities
- Evaluate new strategic growth opportunities for selected markets
Permitting
- Manage Municipal State and Federal permitting processes
- Integrate bylaw and site constraints into project designs
- Ensure project schedules budgets and risk registers are up to date
- Engage with AHJs; present projects to Town & Planning Boards and guide permit discussions and processes
- Manage 3rd party contractors and junior staff
Stakeholder Engagement
- Negotiate PILOTs decommissioning requirements and surety agreements and funds
- Represent the Company with landowners attending landowner & community town halls as needed
- Build longterm positive trusting relationships with all stakeholders
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in business finance engineering energy law or another related discipline
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to deliver complete and quality projects
- Ability to effectively communicate with engineering development and leadership
- Excellent organizational critical analysis skills and communication skills
- Minimum of 1 year of direct experience with permitting land development finance or related field
- Minimum of 1 year of direct experience with solar development in the United States
- Legal eligibility to live in the US and travel throughout the US
- Ability to perform site walks on vegetated rocky and sloped terrain in a variety of weather conditions.
- Proven experience and leadership in project management budgeting and finance
- Ability to manage multiple projects in various stages from land control to NTP
- Strong negotiating and dealmaking skills
