Job Posting: Family Law Lawyer

Position: Family Law Lawyer
Location: Coquitlam BC
Salary: $130000 $150000 (commensurate with experience)

Our client is a leading legal team in the TriCities area offering exceptional services across various practices including Wills and Estates Business Law Real Estate Law Family Law Personal Injury Law and Estate Litigation. They are committed to maintaining a great worklife balance and fostering a fun supportive and challenging work environment.

They are seeking a fulltime Family Law Lawyer with 25 years of litigation experience with a strong preference for candidates called for 5 years. The successful candidate will have recent BC family law experience and be able to manage a diverse caseload confidently and professionally. While the preference is for a 5year call the firm is open to considering candidates who are more junior or slightly more senior provided they bring some of their practice or book of business with them.

The new hire will work closely with a senior lawyer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft legal documents conduct legal research and prepare briefs and pleadings.
  • Advise clients on family law matters.
  • Coordinate and file all discovery documents involving lawyers and clients.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings negotiations and alternative dispute resolution processes.
  • Communicate with senior associates and partners to ensure cases are handled efficiently.
  • Be responsive to client needs providing clear communication both verbally and in writing.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent from a recognized law school.
  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia or qualified for membership without the need for articles.
  • 25 years of litigation experience with recent BC family law experience.
  • Strong advocacy and negotiating skills.
  • Solid practice management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with clients.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary range: $130000 $150000 based on knowledge and experience.
