Our Client provides legal services and expertise on all aspects of immigration and nationality law to corporate clients and individuals in many different fields from high technology and biotechnology to the performing arts. In addition to obtaining temporary work visas and permanent resident status for foreign nationals the firm assists clients in becoming naturalized U.S. citizens filing for political asylum and solving problems with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. We also develop solutions for large and midsized corporations that need to manage a high volume of immigration cases such as case management process mapping and reimbursement agreements. Our attorneys help clients employees apply for visas in both routine and extraordinary situations.
Responsibilities:
We are seeking a contract attorney to support our immigration practice in Boston.
Review and file nonimmigrant (L H TN O E1/2/3 B1/2 J1 etc) and immigrant (PERM I130 EB1 (all) I140 I485 N400 etc) petitions and applications with government agencies and consulates under the direction of a supervising attorney.
Collaborate with legal assistants paralegals and supervising attorney on the daytoday work of assigned cases.
Stay current on business immigration law developments.
Conduct research and draft alerts publications and blog posts.
Participate in section training sessions and other firm and section related activities.
Regularly review clientfacing and internal reports to monitor case activity and new case initiations.
Assist on special projects and assume responsibilities as requested/needed.
Qualifications:
Graduated with a JD or LLM from an ABAaccredited law school
Admitted to practice law in Massachusetts
Minimum 2 years of relevant legal experience in business immigration law and/or immigration related clerkship; entry level candidates with business immigration experience will be considered
Experience using immigrationfocused database including reviewing various reports for accuracy and monitoring data compliance.
Excellent docket and time management skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Requirements:
Ability to use business systems (e.g. telephone computer etc) and electronic resources.
Ability to read review and edit electronic and hard copy forms for final submission.
Ability to complete electronic and hard copy forms to ensure compliance with section processes and quality control measures.
Ability to communicate via email written correspondence phone and in person with clients colleagues opposing counsel and government agencies.
Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods of time.
Ability to work extended hours and/or travel based on client needs.
Ability to lift files that weigh up to 10 pounds.
