Job Description

Assistant Controller

Industry: Multifamily Property Management

We are seeking an Assistant Controller with a solid background in real estate accounting and demonstrated experience supervising accounting teams. Ideal candidates will bring exceptional organization attention to detail and a proactive approach to problemsolving with the ability to balance strategic vision and daytoday tasks. The role also requires excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment while effectively managing shifting priorities.

Responsibilities

Assistant Controller Duties:

  • Supervise train and manage a team of 1015 general ledger accountants.
  • Review monthly financial statements prepared by general ledger staff.
  • Coordinate external audits including scheduling and liaising with property accountants audit firms owners regulatory agencies and other departments to ensure timely issuance of audited financial statements.
  • Act as the primary contact for owner accounting needs to ensure excellent client service.
  • Leverage knowledge and experience with accounting software platforms (Yardi Voyager 7.0 Entrata and RealPage) to enhance internal controls streamline processes and develop custom reports.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to meet owner accounting deadlines and reporting requirements.

Other Duties:

  • Enforce community rules regulations and standard operating procedures consistently and fairly.
  • Ensure compliance with Fair Housing laws and organizational policies.
  • Maintain a professional image through adherence to dress code and conduct standards.
  • Represent the organization positively when interacting with employees clients residents vendors and guests.
  • Provide support for special projects and complete tasks as assigned by supervisors.
  • Meet all training requirements for the position including safety meetings and other designated programs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Proficiency in English (reading speaking and writing).
  • Demonstrated experience in accounting or finance with property management industry experience preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Google Apps (Gmail Drive Docs Sheets) Adobe Acrobat and basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel Word). Familiarity with Yardi and RealPage is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail organization and multitasking abilities.
  • Selfmotivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to thrive in a fastpaced deadlinedriven environment.
  • Creative problemsolving skills and a positive attitude with a passion for delivering exemplary customer service.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
